Razor is an emitter, but he is manipulating the "Pirates".

Mr Runic

I’m not going to spoil anything but a later arc proves that Gon DEFINITELY has flaws and definitely has a habit of being selfish, not because he thinks about his own gain, but because when he sets his mind on a goal, nobody and nothing else matters. Idk how you can watch the later arcs and not think that Gon’s anger can result in him being selfish. I also love Gon as a character, but his tendency to ignore morals and block everything out except his goals is also a part of his character. Acknowledging character flaws isn’t just picking the character apart for negative traits to justify liking other characters. Gon’s bullheadedness and tendency to act without thinking are intrinsic parts of his character.

Just say you don't like Gon, and save us the bullshit fake read up on what a psychopath is.

I would agree that Gon shouting to take on the Bomber was foolish and selfish, But. You two, make it seem like Gon is the selfish type, and that he does not care about other people, only the goal. This is so wrong and I'm baffled on how you even got to this conclusion. This whole "sometimes he cant take criticism" argument is so weird, give me some examples that show that Gon cant take criticism. I can pull on one example that show the opposite, which is similar to this situation, when Gon was going to rescue Killua, he was ready to climb over the gate. But he stopped himself after realising that the guard would be blamed and punished. And here too. in this last episode, he realised what he said to the bomber was selfish too. I can not for the life of me understand you twos read on Gon during the match. HOW was he selfish for wanted to win, and to destroy Razor, after Razor literally almost got Killua killed. He was mad, not selfish, dumb? sure. Was Gon wrong for wanted Killua to hold the ball? No, I personally don't think so, because Killua wanted to keep going and Gon trusts him 100%. You act like its safe to assume Gon didn't care about Killua's feelings or if he got hurt or not. Maybe I'm just yapping, but. I love Gon as a character, and sometimes it just feels like, because someone likes the more "cool and calm" main character, they then have to go out of their way and hate or find small negative traits for the other one to justify why they like the first character.

71 eps in and still calling him Ging with a hard G, huh? 😂 probably best not to bother changing it anyway, it's probably so ingrained. But it is funny fun to me nonetheless cuz of how odd it sounds. I feel like the people translating the names should have known better. Maybe they thought it would be a more interesting spelling or something. Also, I dunno if yall picked up on it, but the reason Hisoka saved using the sticky bungee gum until the end is because not only would it have been wasted when there's still more than one enemy on the court, and then it couldn't work again, but it put Hisoka out of commission. It broke his other arm or hand from the force, and I think that's why he was quick to make an exit. We hear the bone snap, but they didn't show the damage except for a quit shot of him turned away, nursing his other hand. And remember, he's playing a character of a freaky, invisible psycho-clown that can lose limbs and put them back on, so he wouldn't want anyone to see him actually physically unable to fight. Plus, his arms are still attached by threads, so who knows how sturdy that is? I know tissue can grow back together eventually but on an entirely severed arm? Did they ever say if that could fully repair at some point? 🤔 for all they show us, something could've torn up in there when he did that and that was the noise. 😅 I don't think even the author or directors intended to go this deep with it, but these are my conclusions anyway lol About Gon.. this is kind of the area of the show where I decided Gon is a psychopath, but because he is so happy all the time, we don't always see it, but I think he is so run by his positive feelings, that even though he has the capacity to do real destruction and harm and would easily decide to if he disliked someone enough, if he likes or respects someone, he is ready to release them/forgive them or listen to them (to your point about how he picks and chooses what criticism to listen to) but in this, he has no hang-ups in even hurting his best friend because he trusted that Killua could handle it. That's how I interpret when he says "if someone else holds the ball, I wouldn't be able to hit it with all my strength." I think he's saying "I know Killua is desensitized to pain from years of torture, so he can take it" 😶 His empathy doesn't feel like empathy at all because of how he decides things. So my theory is he's actually a psychopath with a propensity towards good. I think Ging is the same, given everything.. just happy-go-lucky guys who have no qualms about murder as long as they like you, but I think it was instilled in Gon that murder is wrong by the girl that raised him, so he just is like "well I don't want to murder and I know it bothers Killua to murder, so he shouldn't murder, but all these other murderers? You're cool. It's fine. As long as you like it and don't hurt things I care about" or even if they do "it's fine as long as you are sorry" 😅 he just accepts that Killua's family tortures him. He just accepts Hisoka hurt Leorio and Kurapika (and Gon) and would do it again if it became totally necessary. He accepts the guy in these eps that's a convicted murderer and the red haired one 😂 I think Gon is scarier than anyone else in this show because he has cracked out power and potential without substantial moral limitations like shame or true guilt, so if something makes him mad enough, or makes him choose a darker motivation, he would be the main villain, for real. We see it with the last part of this ep. He didn't think at all about the danger he was putting anyone in when he got mad. And getting mad during the game, he put everyone at risk there, which is why they highlighted how much Killua's intelligence saved their asses. They basically were saying that Gon proposed an insane plan that if he faltered even a tiny bit, the 3 of them would die, and Killua warned him it might not work and he sides with the psychopathic clown who gets off on the potential for his own death over Killua to enact the insane plan all because he was mad. I rest my case for now. 😂

39:45 is crazyyyyyyyy

Aang

A murderer called Gon a monster lol, he is kinda scary sometimes ngl. But his friendship with Killua is cute and wholesome (for the most part)

Razor is, by the way, an emitter - although he uses manipulation as well for his Nen minions. He's just jacked because he likes to hit the gym, I guess. :D

Rockycitygirl

For the volley ball game Razor wanted to go against a team of 15 because 7 will play the matches before him and the last 8 will play him. Because he wanted to go against our 6 he purposely stopped the 1 v 1 early to do the 8 on 8 so I don’t think this was that unfair of him.

I remember watching hxh for the first time and around this time the anime solidified the fact that Killua is my favourite character in the story. He's a great contrast to Gon and often a voice of reason (for a lot of ppl watching the show too haha) because this is also the moment when we witness Gon's morality and start questioning it. Low-key feel bad for Killua because he is so fond of Gon he is willing to go to great lengths for his crazy plans. Also, love Killua's journey in general and he is now much more empathetic.

Kate

Gon is NOT a perfect character. In fact, he's deeply, DEEPLY flawed in many, many ways, and we shouldn't view him as a moral campass in every situation. This is what sets HxH apart from most other Shonen anime, where protagonists are "role models". Gon has shown many red flags throughout the story (which you guys already spotted), and these red flags will eventually pay off in a later arc.
