There's an interesting translation error. Ojiro's first name is supposed to be Alan, not Aran. Aran is the romanization of the Katakana ใฉ (Ra) but Ra is supposed to replace La in Katakana because Japan doesn't separate L and R but rather mixes them (you curve your tongue and jaw the same as of you're making an R sound, but tap the bottom of the tip of your tongue to your hard palette the same as with L) Katakana was created to incorporate Western words into Japanese, so when you see Katakana, it automatically triggers the idea that you're either reading onomonopeia (sp?) or a western word, so you can better figure out how it's meant to be read. Meaning instead of Aran, we are meant to read it as Alan. โบ๏ธ but apparently people have decided Aran sounds more "Black" than Alan so people like the idea of keeping it as Aran. But it's SUCH a Japanese thing to give the most generic American names to foreign characters ๐ "Alan" "Fred" "Jimmy" "John" even my cousins have the most white western names such as Christopher, Matthew, and then my uncle named the last one Brian so his kids didn't sound like they're from a classical movie. Anyway, just some fun language things. (I also double checked my work to verify and several websites said it can be read as Alan or Aran, but people liked the Aran name better for a black character which.. stereotype much? But ok. Then again, naming the halfy character Alan is Japan stereotyping as well I guess lol)

Thereโs a lot of times where a player whoโs good otherwise may not get a ton of playing time cuz theyโre a defensive liability. Iโve even seen teams run the โwhoeverโ offense, meaning whoever defensive liability X is guarding needs to go score.

2025-05-06 19:43:05 +0000 UTCThey booed the pinch server but not Osamu because they weren't booing misplays. They were booing cowardly/spineless plays (the subtitle badly translated to "weak plays"). A pinch server is supposed to (try to) do difficult serves. He wouldn't have been booed if he at least tried, even if he then failed. But instead he just chickened out. Now, that doesn't mean the booing wasn't mean. It was definitely very harsh, but at least somewhat justifiable.
