Sure some of his sayings are cringe, but it's in a funny way not in an "i cant watch this eeh..." way. Thanos is like the comedic relief and i love that they added that kind of character to the show.

She's only here because she wants to find her child and she was assumably offered some kind of help in exchange for ''putting hopeless people out of their misery''. She's viewing this thing entirely as a ''business deal'' and therefore setting the boundary to protect the original deal and prevent it from spiralling into more and more demand on her lap. She can't afford to have him dangle that ''i'll do anything'' over her or it'd be milked forever.
