Re:Zero S3 Episode 13

Comments

The main series is overlooked by tappei, he works very closely with White Fox. He also oversees the Breaktime and literally everything else rezero related. He probably has massive reasons for leaving things out in certain moments, maybe to add them later for the shows purpose. The average viewer has no idea what breaktime is so i think Tappei commends the huge fans by putting those things in other rezero shorts

ItsSimple

Al is Kazuma 😆 who got transported in the wrong verse and learned to adapt to that world

Mark Andrew Marquez

How are the showrunners dropping major bombs/reveals like the existence of another living elf in chibi short stories. I hope they are gonna properly introduce that character at some point in the main story

kinetic98

Ok...now imagine if Subaru does...that whole epic fight would never have happened

Skull Knight

Re: Zero Trivia Elves are rare in the world of Re: Zero. This is primarily due to the "Elf Hunting" incidents in the past, triggered by Satella messing up 400 years ago. These hunts targeted half-elves and pure elves, causing their population to decrease.

mark9jr

Yea it was Vincent chansard, a freelancer from Toei. But that guy won’t ever go to mappa again

11:21 Huh?! 🤣 I do love how Al kept poking fun at the Lust Apostle. And I see Wes is still going strong with his time travel theory about him. But to be brutally honest, I find Steph's idea of only Japanese people with certain personalities being isekai'd more credible 😂 24:14 Agreed, the animation in this fight was amazing, even more than in the Al one. 26:36 Now you know how we felt the whole time. But it's fun going in blind with you (have done so since the last drop, and haven't prewatched) and theorize together! 30:50 I think so, too. Like plugging the whole was technically 'protecting himself from drowning' or hitting that beast because it came to close/endagered, so it would work within their bounds. 31:40 D: what do you mean 'really cool' ? That's horrible. Would be as bad as Reinhard's dad coming in to finish her off right in front of Reinhard's eyes :/

Peter Butchens

And it would make for great refresher of things they may have forgotten. I hope they do :)

Lone Wolf

After seeing Al act like that it would be really funny if he is an older Kazuma, I read that the two authors are drinking buddies, so maybe?

Wurzeldieb

Think I heard somewhere that the animator for one of the Sukuna fights did this one too, so Wes may be on the money here

Griffin

All the money they got from selling Rem goods gotta be used somewhere, right? 😂

Yorutia

It's not really a type of animation; it's just a term that refers to exceptionally high-quality animation moments in anime. It doesn't always have to be fight scenes, either. While sakuga is relatively rare when considering anime as a whole, it's probably more common than you might think, at least in more popular series. Re:Zero, for example, has quite a few sakuga scenes. Of course, even among those high-quality moments, some stand out more than others. This one is definitely top-tier, especially because of its length, since these scenes are often rather short. If you're interested, check out sakugabooru.com - a massive archive of sakuga clips. This are all the sakuga scenes from Re:Zero, for example: https://www.sakugabooru.com/post?page=1&tags=re%3A_zero_kara_hajimeru_isekai_seikatsu_series

Rockycitygirl

Damn! That was some good animation.

Rockycitygirl

I noticed that neither of you mentioned this in the video, so let me add a bit more context 1. You guys probably forgot that Roy (the other Gluttony) are still fighting Julius and Ricardo. 2. Lye mentioned the name Rui, which we’ve never heard before. 3. Capella accused Al of lurking in the shadows, opening the floodgates and killing almost the entire Council of Ten to silence them (only Kiritaka alive, I guess). 3.5. This shows that Al might not be such a good knight after all. His methods are pretty dirty and he even went as far as beheading fake Priscilla without hesitation.

Metamorph

There’s some interesting cut content briefly 1. Regulus was the one who killed Kurgan (8 arms) and wiped out both the people and the city he was protecting. 2. The fight between Regulus and Kurgan was completely unfair. Because, well, Regulus is Regulus. That’s why he prefers to fight like a warrior against Garf. 3. Young Wilhelm once fought Kurgan and won.

Metamorph

Garf used his earth magic to hold 4 of kurgan’s hands, and used the other injured hand as advantage to bite his neck and beat him. That shows Garf’s battle intelligence. Oh yes, I wonder why they haven’t shown Julius fight yet 🙂

Mohammad Bemana

Lmao, Wesley with the theories...

Adel

Vincent Chansard was the person who animated the Garfiel fight. He's a known legend in the animation world. Everything he ever touches looks like pure gold! It's funny too that you pointed out how similar it looked to the Sukuna fight because he also in fact worked on that as well, so you have a really good eye! He's been doing a lot for One Piece lately, which I really wish you guys would watch at some point lol.

kamikaze.33

One detail from the light novel that was missed is Kurgan blocking off the water had a bit more meaning. In the light novel the whole place was about to flood but being a corpse Kurgan doesn’t actually have to worry about drowning at all. Him stopping the water was another show of his honor in wanting to fight him directly without any cheating.

Moroni W

Oh interesting, that's not too surprising given she's an elf, but I wonder if that means she has any relation to Emilia's people. Hard to tell in chibi, but she kind of looks like Archie.

D B

If you guys want more Re:Zero content each week, you could watch a break time episode from S1/S2 each week. It might be a bit of tonal whiplash though 😅

D B

Honestly, even though the Garf and Kurgan fight was animated beautifully and was probably the main highlight of the episode, I was more hyped to actually see Al fight for once and this guy, for being such a buff chonky knight guy, is surprisingly sneaky and agile lol

monsters2312

This episode has to have some of the greatest animation in all of Re: Zero, what a fight! I agree with Steph, that shot of the tiger with the roar was incredible!

D B

What you witnessed in that Garfiel fight is called Sakuga. It's a type of animation where the animation director goes all out, stylizing their animation to capture a certain emotion behind the fighting animation. It's very rare in anime, and most shows never gets it! I never thought I'd see sakuga in re zero, but here we are!

Iriza

This blonde elf chef says wagahai instead of watashi, which is an old way of referring to oneself, indicating she's probably several hundred years old. Either that, or she's just quirky like that.
