Squid Games S2 Episode 7

Comments

I am so so so sorry for the hardships that your mother and family have had to go through, especially as a result of hate. Thank you for sharing and praying for your mother and family ❤️

Wes And Steph

I’m kinda thinking the end credit scene maybe like a flashback. Maybe of when frontman was in his games

Dancemish

Yes! Omg he irritates me more than anybody in the show. I feel so bad for Se-Mi

Jerica Cabebe

6 mins in and steph's spidey senses are tingling with 'i bet inho's gonna kill jungbae' 😂 this is why i love you guys, haha

kiyo

I just discovered this recently I didn't know why I haven't recognized the actor playing the Frontman (Lee Byung Hun) he was actually part of a GI Joe movie and Red 2 (with Jason Statham). woah. I bet a lot of people already knew that, but I'm like... great actor and great at action scenes too, imma go and check out his filmography

izkath

There might be more to Dae Ho’s situation than you guys think especially taking into consideration that the battalion the show says he served with in real life was the epicenter of a dark incident in South Korea’s recent history

A Guy

Till the end it’s crazy how Frontman would always ask Gihun “are you sure” about different decisions as if laughing to himself about what he’s going to do or making sure Gihun feels like he has the full agency

Se-Mi had the most horrific death for me this season - getting killed by that asshole, Nam-Gyu. She was a genuinely nice person from what we’ve seen and didn’t deserve to go out like that. He is enemy number one for me next season.

I also thought he was just lying until almost the end, when he was actually in fear and expected to be beaten for not returning with the ammo, which proved that there was definitely more to it. The only thing that doesn’t add up for me is why he seems to have no knowledge at all about weapons or how to shoot them, unless his time in the military was rather short for some reason.

Rockycitygirl

Your take on Dae-Ho is so interesting! I never thought he lied about being in the marines I just thought he had really bad PTSD!

There are many theories about Dae Ho's past, and most people don't think he's stolen valor. Some people theorized that he had severe ptsd due to past experience. The most popular theory is that i has something to do with Dae Ho's abusive father, since we know that: 1, Dae Ho is the only son of his family. 2, He grew up with his sisters and likes to play feminine games. 3, His father told him to get into military to make him more "manly". 4, His father gave him a stereotypical masculine name. 5, Dae Ho refused to talk about his father and appeared troubled when his father was brought up. 6, Dae Ho assumed Hyun-ju was gonna hit him when she's grabbing the ammo. It's theorized that Dae Ho's father abused him, forced him into military, and the military experience traumatized him even deeper. Considering these factors, it's impressive that he has been so brave up till this point.

I can finally say my favorite theory! There's a whole deep dive into this theory that I won't be able to do justice but TLDR ver: granny is the wife of the Il-nam, the one who made the games. She's the right age, the only one who snuck in her own weapon, she miraculously survives the games, and she knew at the end to stop her son from joining the militia because she knew there was a larger force. The theory says she didn't realize her son would join the games and that's why she was so pissed in the beginning when nobody knew they could die from the games yet. My personal take on the theory is "why would she join the games?" And I think it's because she doesn't think she'll live much longer either and wanted to experience them the same as her husband. 🧐 (LGBT rant coming up. Feel free to move on if it's not your thing, but I point out some important issues 120 represents) Also, 120 is my fav character by far. Absolute queen (played by a king lol) A lot of people took issue with 120 for various reasons which I find to be ridiculous. The most obviously stupid one is the one my father had which is "why do they have to put a tr*nny or tw*nk in everything these days?" A vile problem to have and a perfect demonstration for the reasons behind problem #2 😑 (Sorry for the language also. That is a direct quote) Problem 2: people are mad that a Trans actor/actress didn't play 120. First of all.. how many openly trans actors/actresses in Korea do people think there are? Smh but the creator of the show answered his reasons, which were that a) he didn't want to out anyone by putting a real trans person in the role, because not only is it still dangerous, but career ending. Lots of LGBT people still have to "pass" at work/school and even playing a LGBT character can be damaging to their career (which makes the actor even more amazing he was willing to do this role). Another reason that explains problem #3 is that it's still difficult for a lot of trans people to get hormone blockers/hormone replacement therapy and gender affirming surgery in S.K and trans women still are forced to go to the military as men (and definitely can't seem feminine because it's a dangerous, toxic environment) so for the character, who is a special forces sergeant, he wanted to have a big strong man to play the trans woman to represent those who can't afford their surgeries and hormones or get access to them, and would struggle enough in their life to end up in the games. Which explains the 3rd argument I see which is that "they made 120 too manly for a trans woman. That's not representative" To that I say, that may not be "your" experience, Nancy.. but that is a common experience for trans people in S.K and many other places. 😮‍💨 or hell, even in America, where half the states have illegalized hormone blockers, "cross-dressing" and gender affirming surgeries at this point.. even women who want breast reductions or hystorectomies, or hormone therapy for health reasons are having an impossible time of it. Insanity.. Anyway, that was just a small tangent and PSA for why 120 is the most amazing, yet underrated character ever.

I’m glad Wes caught onto the idealism vs pragmatism themes that were shown when Gihun explained his plans and how it was exactly what Inho was waiting for. Also agree that the only way that the little girl’s dad survives is through the organ harvesting lab. But my prediction is that it wasn’t 11 that shot him, it was one of those organ harvesting pricks. And they missed on purpose so that they can harvest him. But 11 finds out and saves him, then joins our team. That’s my copium lol. Can’t wait til season 3!

Brooklyn

yeah that makes sense

Aileen kth

well, yes, his name in Hangul is 오영일 so the English version should be Oh Yeong-il, but "yeong" is just written as "young" most of the time for some reason, maybe so that foreigners know how to pronounce it.

Selena Nguyen

Season 3 comes out on June 27th so not too long a wait thankfully

Niko

You missed the post-credit scene :(

esclad

Could you guys potentially check out the hot ones episode with gi hun and in ho actors , it’s a really popular, fun video to see them outside of death and stuff 😭

K

Zero is either „yeong“ (영) which sounds very similar to „young“ but it’s not quite the same sound or „gong“ (공) i believe

Aileen kth

I think "young" means zero in Korean, so his name is literally "zero one." I don't think it implies "young version of number 1" but you have a point.

Selena Nguyen

(First of all sorry for my english, i‘m not a native speaker so my english might not be great lmao) but what i find really funny is inhos name that he gave himself in the games, „young-il“. Because „il“ („일“) means the number „one“ in korean, so his name translates to „young-one“ or „the young version of number one“. See how that relates to the old player one in the first games last season? I just think thats genius, but i feel like gihun should actually be more suspicious of him because of that.

Aileen kth

OMG THIS WAS THE LAST EPISODE?? 😅 I was watching it for the first time and I got so surprised when you said that at the end lol Anyway, I enjoyed this season so much (such a great show!!) and loved it even more experiencing it with you guys 💛 Loved all the kdramas I've seen with you so far, looking forward to SG season 3 🙌

This is gonna be really long and potentially upsetting to read so apologies if so, please feel free to delete this if its too much! In relation to the getting kicked in the head talk: before I was born, when my mum was still in school (primary school I believe? So younger than 10) she got beat up by a bunch of people, don't know the exact number but it was defo 3 or more, and I'm pretty sure it was just little girls so nobody too strong but they cornered her and beat her up. She thought she got out relatively unscathed outside of external wounds etc. but when she was 17 she had a brain haemorrhage when a blood vessel burst in her brain and that had been due to some sort of brain or skull damage or whatever from getting beat up (I'm sure she must've been kicked in the head at least once). It didn't help that the hospital dismissed her but it ended up being really bad, she nearly died and was on life support for so long that a doctor asked my grandparents to make a decision whether they should pull the plug or not bc it seemed like she'd not wake up ever again. Eventually she did but her entire left side of her body (side of the haemorrhage) is paralysed, there's a dent in her head, she had to completely relearn how to talk/walk/write etc. And she's been disabled her whole life since and has had many complications from the surgeries they've had to do as well as just the haemorrhage and paralysis in general, like a lot of severe side effects that have lasted her whole life severely. Not to mention the mental health issues that causes. She was very recently diagnosed with lymphoma which they think she contracted through a dodgy blood transfusion she had to have due to the haemorrhage all the way back when it first happened (she's in her 50s now)- she can't even have chemotherapy or a surgery that would require being put under anaesthetic because her brain and body are too weak after the haemorrhage. Both me and my brother also have a lot of disabilities/chronic illnesses/mental health issues/neurodivergence and she thinks most of that's a result of her disability and health complications etc. Because obviously she had them all when pregant witb us. So basically, the stupid decision of a few literal children completely changed the course of her entire life as well as the lives of her children and as a result our children if we ever had biological ones (I won't but my brother could if he wanted lol) and they were only little girls so they couldn't have even hit THAT hard. Getting beat up/attacked is no joke whatsoever, if it's not life ending it's life altering and in this case bloodline altering basically :/ they beat her up for a stupid reason as well its very sad (she's polish and we live in the UK and apparently back in the 70's people round here weren't fond of poles or smth idk) so yeah, really really messed up stuff, because of this I have and will continue to do EVERYTHING in my power to never get into any sort of physical altercation because it can do so much damage
