Hunter X Hunter Episodes 59 & 60

😂 this show is my favorite one to refer to when I talk about how age in anime is arbitrary unless the anime is designed around the age of the main characters (like slice of life and a student likes a teacher but has to wait until graduation, kinda thing) because it's just too funny how badly they mess with our perspectives. Leorio is literally a 40 yr old businessman archetype, and they're just like "hey guys, remember he's a teen, ok? Remember he's a teen! Totally nothing weird happening" Honestly, this isn't my favorite arc and I don't remember much about it, but I do like that the writer found plausible, lore-friendly ways to completely change the genre of anime in each arc. I'm kinda confused tho so hopefully someone can tell me, but isn't the first movie timed between the last arc and this one? Or was it more like "here's a side thing with no timing conventions" type deal? Been a long time since I watched all this

2025-05-04 19:39:58 +0000 UTCI think you should only watch the openings when you think the arc will end. Or at least when you think it’s in its midpoint. That way it’s more fun to guess how along the story you think you are. I think this works out because I don’t think the remaining arcs change opening mid arc.

2025-03-26 05:01:58 +0000 UTCYou guys will eventually understand why the tycoon is obsessed with Greed Island. It’s really sad and sweet.

2025-03-26 00:18:28 +0000 UTCguys the media isnt covering anything about the screening, first of all only those who knew of the game and of nen were invited to to the screening in the first place and also only hunters were invited meaning only who can use nen in the first place, technically killua isnt a hunter but he knows of nen so that qualifys him to also particpate there

2025-03-23 18:22:33 +0000 UTCI agree with the first part; lots of anime are inspired by and reference HxH (and other great, iconic series). Solo Leveling probably even more than others, especially with this particular arc. However, saying that it’s just a copy+paste is not true and undermines both series by reducing their originality.

2025-03-22 17:50:21 +0000 UTCGuys, think, how is it possible for Beatrice to be making a cameo in HxH if she first appeared in vol 2 of rezero's light novel (2014) and Greed Island was introduced in the manga in 2001 ? LOL If anything, you can argue Beatrice is a cameo for THIS character instead, which came nearly 15 years earlier.

2025-03-22 08:38:09 +0000 UTCthese reactions r always so fun, i just love hxh and watching it with you guys lmao,, also yes steph, i agree, ging does not sound worth finding lolll

2025-03-21 20:30:35 +0000 UTCI don't believe so, unfortunately. Only fighting games so far. Bandai did release an official collectible card set featuring all the cards from Greed Island with all their stats and stuff. Don't look into it for now though as you may get spoiled on some of the characters for this arc.

2025-03-21 18:12:52 +0000 UTCThat is SICK! Has anyone tried to make it into a board game or video game IRL?

2025-03-21 16:27:04 +0000 UTCDON'T watch the intro until the very end of the arc. It's LOADED with spoilers. Also, if you guys notice any similarities between HxH amd other anime, it's 90% a reference to HxH, due to how classic it is. Later in the series, you'll notice that Solo Leveling did an almost copy+paste to a HxH storyline.

2025-03-21 15:41:03 +0000 UTCHere is a non spoiler comment on what we know about Nen so that you guys get a better feeling for it. Aura: Life energy in all living things. Nen is the art of controlling it. The Four Major Principles: Ten: Keeps aura around the body. Protects and prevents aura loss. Slows down aging, its basically an armor allowing you to stop bullets. Zetsu: Stops aura flow. Hides presence and speeds recovery of stamina and injuries. Ren: Increases and strengthens aura. Boosts power and defense. Hatsu: Releases aura as a unique ability. Reflects personality and fits into one of six types. Advanced Techniques: Gyo: Focuses aura into a body part like for example the eyes. Reveals hidden Nen. In: Hides aura completely. Makes abilities and Nen invisible for those who don't use gyo. En: Expands aura in a large radius. Detects movement within range. Another thing you both often misunderstood is that even if you have a different category you can use abilities from other categories, but it's less efficient. For example a body builder who focuses on a big weight would do worse than a rock climber when doing pull ups. Or lets say a runner would do worse in swimming than a swimmer, but they can still swim even thought the muscles they trained for a different. Kurapika's red eyes allow him to be 100 percent efficient in all categories. But others lets say Hisoka, hisoka transmutes (transforms) his aura into the property of rubber and gum but he also uses emission since once it isn't connected to his body anymore his Bungy Gum ability doesnt dissapear. Castro, the clone guy Hisoka fought against in Heavens arena was an enhancer but he used his ability to conjure, manipulate and emitt a clone of himself instead of just strengthening his attacks. Enhancers are basically the cheat class that dont even need an ability but most enhancers still create a cool one

2025-03-21 10:15:12 +0000 UTCA great arc. Togashi, the author is doing something that only watchers that have watched it a couple times have figured it out. The hunter exam is very bright and nice, the heaven's arena arc is a little darker, yorkshin city arc is very dark and the greed island arc is very bright.

2025-03-21 10:13:01 +0000 UTCGreed Island is my second favorite arc

2025-03-21 07:39:14 +0000 UTCwhat do you mean, like the game character person when going into greed island? because you see it in episode 61 or 62 i think.

2025-03-21 06:46:51 +0000 UTCbrother they can tell from the intro who is going to be the antagonist. And there's also that character, you know who. So it's a spoiler.

2025-03-21 00:52:43 +0000 UTCLol Ging is the worst father ever, baited his son into playing a game where you can die lol

2025-03-21 00:50:36 +0000 UTCThe Greed Island arc was first introduced in 2001, so it was really ahead of it’s time
Exit
2025-03-21 00:39:19 +0000 UTCTo be clear, Ging said Gon wouldn't be able to *leave* the game without acquiring a specific item/card. *Clearing* the game is a different thing, and still requires you to collect 100 cards. You don't need to read too much into that line though -- he was basically just telling Gon that he can't exit the game immediately, just because it has no where's-Ging clues (supposedly).

2025-03-20 23:36:32 +0000 UTCI would hold off on watching the intro for sure!

2025-03-20 20:38:16 +0000 UTCOpening contain spoilers, But you can watch the ending song after episode 61. Yes, out of all the animes you guys have reacted to, Hunter x Hunter is the oldest. And it's not unusual to see new gen animes like Aot, jjk taking inspiration from HxH, whether it's abilities, or character designs.

2025-03-20 20:38:12 +0000 UTCIt doesn’t matter what counts as a spoiler to you - I don’t really care either. I almost always watch intros, but if Wes and Steph want to skip them until all the characters and events are revealed, you should respect that. There are already at least five other comments saying they should wait until later to watch it. Seems like you are the outlier.
Rockycitygirl
2025-03-20 20:02:15 +0000 UTCCharacters with zero context do not count as spoilers to me, when I first watched ending 2 I was convinced that the phantom troupe shown were the floormasters at heavens arena lol. You literally can't piece anything together. I don't see the issue with watching through it once like every single one of us did when we first watched the show
Josh Ashford
2025-03-20 19:40:05 +0000 UTCIf anything, it's the other way around, right? When I watched Re:Zero for the first time, I was reminded of HxH the moment I saw Beatrice.

2025-03-20 19:36:58 +0000 UTCI like Ging for who he is, but he's probably one of the worst "dads" ever.

2025-03-20 19:35:27 +0000 UTCKillua was 17th in line to enter the game.

2025-03-20 19:32:39 +0000 UTCProbably even longer, to be honest.

2025-03-20 19:31:58 +0000 UTCThe intro literally shows characters we haven’t even seen yet and events up until the end of the arc. How is it okay to watch?

2025-03-20 19:28:54 +0000 UTCQuestion. How did Phinks and Feitan interact with the starter lady?

2025-03-20 19:17:19 +0000 UTCLike the other arcs, the opening is only safe to watch near the end of the arc because it has scenes and characters that show up later. I'd say wait until episode 72.

2025-03-20 18:30:00 +0000 UTCI understand everyone who dislikes Ging, but I love him best anime dad (in my opinion) also I think I know what you’re reacting to next with that spoiler…….

2025-03-20 18:11:06 +0000 UTCBtw the manga chapters that these episodes adapted came out in 2001, and that includes the characters you saw including the girl who caught your attention, so yeah there's no way that her design was inspired by Beatrice from Re: Zero :) Also I vote for not watching the intro until much later or even after the arc.

The Anime Dude
2025-03-20 18:08:52 +0000 UTCOne of the reasons why HxH is so goated is that every arc feels very different from one another. I'm so pumped to watch you guys go through this arc especially because you're gamers, and not just video games, but D&D and board games as well. Togashi made the rules of this game in a way that it'll work as an actual playable game. Honestly, Togashi would be cracked as a game dev, though he chose the best career for him as a mangaka as it's obviously made him very rich and successful, and as a game dev, he'd probably make legendary games but idk if he'd be as rich considering how the game industry is nowadays where even if you make a successful game you can get fired lol

2025-03-20 18:06:03 +0000 UTCThe intro is NOT OKAY to watch! Knowing what you two would consider spoilers, you should wait another 5-6 episodes at least.
