The techniques -- Ten, Shu, Ken, etc. -- are all fundamental Nen techniques, aura manipulation which any Nen user can learn to do, regardless of their category. However, proficiency at those techniques will vary widely, depending on Nen category, talent, experience or just personal inclination. For instance, Enhancers are famously expected to be great at Ren and Ko, at maximizing the volume of aura they can generate and bring to bear. I think Emitters are supposed to be great with En. And so on. Of course, a true Nen master commands all of these techniques with sufficient skill to get shit done.
