Alice In Borderland S2 Episode 7

Comments

Niragi is 1000% projecting, but on a base level he isn't wrong, that's why it's so frustrating in a good way. Arisu and Chishiya have suffered in a very similar way to him, despairing without a purpose because of society and feeling numb as if nothing will ever change, and it's an undeniable fact that both of them have committed truly selfish acts multiple times across the story, even in this season. Obsessing over answers Arisu doesn't actually need, pairing Usagi and Niragi for a game, trying to force the King of Diamonds to break his own ideals, betraying Arisu back at the Beach, and so on. But Arisu and now also Chishiya have been able to grow and improve and start to work towards really living, rather than stagnating in their own flaws, like what you said about him still being the same lonely boy. They WERE similar, we shouldn't deny that just because Niragi is so much more overtly awful, but they haven't been similar for a while, that is also true. Arisu and Chishiya made active choices, and improved because of it. Niragi hates them because they're living proof that someone like himself CAN in fact get better and redeem themselves, and if that's true then it's entirely his own fault that he is this horrible. He'd have to take responsibility for his own actions and ideals, rather than blame everything on society and treat his circumstances like a law of nature, when they're just that, circumstances. (i find it easy to believe that someone like that would conflate morality with popular opinion, like with the comment about the masses) He has free will and agency, even if he'd rather die than admit it. My assumption is that this is why he's still around, though i feel as though they made this point very clear during the King of Clubs, so I would not have minded if they killed him off there. I share the frustration that they didn't off him back then, but at this point in Arisu's character arc it'd be against every message of the show if Arisu pulled the trigger on Niragi here. Feeling like he has to prove something to Niragi would be to play along with the shootout, rather than walking away. And as Niragi also said, he wants to walk proudly into hell and be despised. In his own stupid and fucked up way, that's also sticking to one's ideals. And what I meant in my comment on the episode right before this, is that the chain of small kind acts that started in the tag game and influenced the King of Diamonds' point of view, is what changed Chishiya into someone who would take a bullet for Usagi. That's why Arisu says he's changed. I def think you're on the money with the warrior-warrior thing and even more so with King of Spades talking to the memory of the friend he had to mercy kill instead of Aguni. I feel it's pretty clear that Aguni was similarly talking to Hatter though. "Sorry. It was the only way I knew how to save you." "I never once hated you." That goes perfectly with the arc of Hatter trying to give people a symbol of hope to make them keep living and failing because there is no such thing as a reason to live that covers every irrationality and paradox of real life.

Shows that make you huff and puff copium are the best shows imo. Cus it means that there were real consequences and the characters went through real shit. And you never know how the show will surprise you. This was the episode I remembered clear as day even though it’s been years since I’ve seen it lol
