Copyright Concerns & New Original Tripod Design

We are aware that many of you have felt concerns and fears regarding copyright. Many are worried that paramount may take action to shut down the game because of using the 2005 War of the Worlds film tripod design in the game, especially after revealing the new movie accurate model earlier this month. We have addressed these concerns on several occasions and several forums and are aware of the risks of doing so. While we stand firm on continuing to use the movie accurate tripods unless any action is taken, we are still preparing ourselves for a worst-case scenario where we need to swap the movie accurate tripods and switch them for a design that isn't prone to a copyright issue. 

For this reason EldeBH has begun work on the back up tripod model. The new machine (Designed by project members local & EldeBH) is obviously designed to resemble the 2005 tripods closely, while at the same time being significantly different enough to avoid any issues. The reason we want to stay close to the 2005 design and not stray towards something completely different is because we have been marketing the game with a specific tripod design and feel & it would be senseless and a bad move to completely switch up the design to something completely different. 

The tripod will use the same animations and rig meaning minimal work will be needed to put it in game when it is completed and should we need to replace the movie accurate tripods, the delay would be minimal or non existent. As of now we plan to have both tripods as toggleable options in the game and should the movie accurate tripod need to be removed, we will have it available as a third party mod to install to your game upon release.
