Nextlander's Week of New Announcements Begins Now!

Friday is finally here, and with it comes our final big anniversary announcement: MERCH.

That's right, we're finally making stuff that you can buy. Our initial run will be Nextlander logo t-shirts in a few different colors, a dad hat featuring our rocketship logo, and a coffee mug featuring our intrepid spaceperson. Wanna little peek at what that stuff will look like? Here's some not final mock-ups of what we're gonna be offering.

Though we aren't doing any limited run merch on this first batch, our Mission Control and Mysterious Benefactor patrons will be getting a discount on these items. We'll give more details on all of that once we launch the store. We don't have a firm date for merch launch just yet, but we're hoping to have it live soon. Stay tuned!

And that is it! We hope you've enjoyed the first year of Nextlander as much as we have, and that you're as excited as we are for the stuff we've got coming down the pipes. This won't be the ONLY new content we do this year, as we'll undoubtedly have some new streams and video content coming as the year wears on, so stay tuned on that! In the meantime, we just want to once again thank everyone for supporting us over this last year. We quite literally could not do this without you, and we're thrilled to still be on this journey a year later. Have a great weekend, and here's to another year and beyond!

PREVIOUS POSTS

Greetings, Nextlanders!

As you may already be aware, our one-year anniversary is fast approaching, and we've got some  exciting new content announcements to deliver! Each day this week, we'll be updating this post with an additional announcement. So keep your eyes trained to this here blog post each day if you want to keep tabs on what we're announcing!

First up, which you're probably already aware of if you've been listening to/watching our stuff over the last couple of weeks, is that Vinny is finally digging into Final Fantasy XIV! For the next two weeks, Vinny will be streaming a little of his FFXIV journey each morning, and if that doesn't work out, he'll find some other stuff to mix it up with. So if you're part of our sizeable FFXIV community, you definitely won't want to miss that. You can go watch him kick that journey off right now! If you aren't already, I mean.

That's all for today, but we'll be updating this post tomorrow with another announcement, so stay tuned!

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Time for another announcement!

One of the more often-requested things we've had since we launched is that Ground Support patrons ($5) would very much like to be able to access the Ramblecast, even if it comes on a delayed schedule. So guess what? We're doing that!

Our Core Crew, Mission Control, and Mysterious Benefactor patrons ($10 and up) will still get the Ramblecast on the usual cadence, and starting next week, $5 patrons will be getting access to new episodes a week later. We'll also be unlocking all the older Ramblecasts for $5 patrons as well, though doing so will probably take us a bit of time as we'll be doing it manually, so bear with us over the next couple of weeks as we get all those unlocked for you.

In addition to this release change, we're happy to announce that we'll also be adding a VIDEO Ramblecast that will only be available to our $10 and up patrons! If you've enjoyed our non-stop rambling over the last year and wished you could see our handsome mugs while we were doing it, this is the show for you!

That's all for today, but hopefully that's exciting enough to tide you over until tomorrow's announcement. Remember, Vinny is live right this very moment (unless you're reading this after noon eastern time), so go say hi to him and let him know how excited you are for all these Ramblecast announcements!

Another day has passed, therefore it's time for yet another new  content announcement!

Today's  announcement comes in the form of a BRAND NEW PODCAST featuring VERY  FAMILIAR FOLKS. Myself (Alex) and Vinny will be joined on a monthly basis by varying combos of Abby Russell, Austin Walker, Dan Ryckert, and Jeff Bakalar for Never Been a Better Podcast, a show that isn't really about video games, but will probably include some games talk, as well as  a whole host of other topics. And the best part? The very first episode is live as of today! Right now! This very moment!

On this first episode, Austin and Dan join us to talk about a variety of very stupid topics, and each episode we'll mix it up with a new combination of the crew. This podcast is strictly for Core Crew, Mission Control, and Mysterious Benefactor ($10 and up) patrons, and will not be unlocking for $5 patrons. But don't fret if you're at the Ground Support tier, as we've got an announcement tomorrow that EVERYONE is gonna love! (Nextlander cannot legally guarantee that everyone will love this announcement, but we think you will. Honestly.) Stay tuned!

The week is nearing its end, but we are extremely not done announcing new stuff for all our supporters. Another often requested  feature--and one we've talked about doing for months now--is some kind  of movie/TV/anime watchcast. Well guess what? WE'RE DOING ONE.

Our AS YET UNTITLED NEXTLANDER WATCHCAST (we'll work on that name) is going to be launching the first week of July with a pair of episodes, one featuring a film Brad has been dying to see for ages in Steven Spielberg's JAWS, and one featuring the first two episodes of our first series rewatch: Star Trek: The Original Series, a show Vinny has never seen! A  big part of what we want to do with this show is hack away at the big, classic stuff that at least one or two of us has never had the chance to  see, but those won't be the ONLY kinds of things we watch. Honestly, literally anything you can view with your eyeballs and doesn't require a controller input is fair game.

The release schedule will be alternating between films and series rewatch projects on a week-to-week basis, and when we finish a season of a show, we'll probably take a little breather and just focus on movies for a month or two before going back for more. We're also giving ourselves some room to change up the format over time and pivot off of stuff if, say, we watch a bunch of  Star Trek and decide we don't want to do more of that for a while. We're gonna experiment! But the one thing that will be constant is that we will be watching stuff, and you will hear us talk about it! We may even look into setting up some watch-alongs in the Discord where it makes sense, so keep an eye out for announcements around that.

Last thing: this podcast will operate on the same basic cadence as the Ramblecast. $10 and up patrons will get it first, and $5 patrons will get it a week later. We will also be releasing this as a public podcast--not exclusively for patrons--but anyone who supports us at any tier will get an ad-free version, just like the main Nextlander Podcast.

That's all for today! Personally, I'm very excited about this one, as my appearances on stuff like Waypoint's Mannhunting and the Cinema Oblivia podcast has had me itching to do a full-on watchcast for a while now. I hope you're all as excited as I am, and believe it or not, we're still not done! We've got one more announcement queued up for tomorrow, so stay tuned!
