Paid for an annual subscription earlier in the day but knew it was deserved once Dan discussed getting peanut butter out of shag carpeting. Best wishes in the new year.

The Terrifier

I loved this. I've missed this.

Scott Leland

It's so incredibly nice to hear you all talking together again in this capacity!

Skaen

Love it!

mochagodzilla

Great new podcast. Love it. Dan, Austin talking about anime, mechs and Billy Mitchell. Beast cast reborn.

Genji-Gloves

Very nice to hear some new (old) blood on a new podcast, and I am totally on board with a rotating cast for this one. Hell of a first episode for a podcast, and definetly makes me keep my tier. Regarding what was talked about during the episode… Titan AE seems like a nightmare of a production from reading about it. It began pre-production as a live action movie, with a bunch of screenwriters attached to it (including noted piece of shit Joss Whedon), and a whole design team just plugging away at ships and environments. Eventually it didn’t even have a director because Fox fired the director seemingly to cut costs. The decision to make it animation and hire Don Bluth as the director seem like a last ditch effort to get the movie made. For reference, Fox Animation Studios started in 1994, mostly to make Anastasia, which came out in 1997. By the time Titan AE started production, $30 million had been spent on developing it. Bluth and Fox Animation Studios were given only nineteen months to finish the entire film (again there was not a finished script when Bluth was hired on), an insane time crunch for an animated feature, especially one this ambitious. Fox Animation Studios was officially closed ten days after the movie was released, only completing three features, one of them a direct to video Anastasia spinoff with Hank Azaria’s character Bartok. (By the way anybody remember that first teaser for Titan AE a full year before it came out that was in front of Phantom Menace? Holy shit I was hyped for that movie knowing nothing about it then.) You also mentioned Men in Black would make a great light gun game. It kind of was. The ride at Universal Studios was basically a combination ride and light gun game. It was based on the scene where Will Smith does target practice, except instead of this being a routine training exercise… OH NO! Real aliens are loose! You help defeat the aliens, and at the end of the ride you get neuralized. Blockbuster cuts of movies weren’t as frequent as you’d expect, but still a weird part of 80s-90s censorship. If a movie was released NC-17 or unrated in theaters, you had to cut it down to an American R rating if you wanted it on Blockbuster shelves or sold at Wal Mart. Showgirls is the most prominent example I can think of, and Todd Haynes’ Poison is the weirdest example. In this day and age, if you’re watching these movies on streaming or Blu-Ray they are almost certainly the full uncut version. On a related note, Blockbuster caved to pressure and took The Last Temptation of Christ off their shelves, even though it had an R rating.

I can’t believe they’ve done this

Zeus Laser

also when they talked about how there should be a men in black light gun game, I remembered there was something better at discovery zone https://youtu.be/bLOspcSQd7k

Kyle Heckman

Love this new podcast - Hope we can get them to be a bit longer in the future if possible :)

Jason Shirley

i was on the fence about subscribing to this tier for a year, but the first 4 minutes of this podcast had me laughing so hard tears started rolling down my face, worth every penny and then some

Kyle Heckman

may be the mechsiest podcast ep ever

animalrockets

I really hope that for just one episode, at some point, you get everyone on in a single call. It would be chaos but probably really fun to listen to. Especially since the GB GOTY podcasts were still fun even with a ton of people.

DAVE

This is absolutely amazing!

Max

Listened to this yesterday but I just want to say how great it was to hear you guys collab with Dan again on something. Even if this is a one off. Awesome stuff and I'm excited for future episodes.

Andrew

Incredible!

The Spine

If you're on an iPhone and using the base default apple podcast app just re copy and paste the RSS feed link. it worked for me.

Andrew

I’m not seeing this in my podcast RSS feed either. Wonder if I need to delete and redo it?

Jake Burden

Incredible! Even as a 10 dollar subscriber since the beginning, I would love for this to be available for the 5 dollar tier (or even free) - this podcast is so special it shouldn't be locked behind a paywall!

Anders

As a guy of similar age growing up in England I can confirm that woods-porn was a cultural staple here too!

Simon

Oh my god this was so good. Haven’t laughed so hard in a while.

Michael

this was amazing

Matt Whan

It would be cool if future episodes were slightly longer, since it's only once a month, but maybe I'm getting greedy.

Castor Troy

Got a tear in my eye when Vinny asked Dan about his house :')

Cam McGiff

This is what I'm talking about. Nextlander is about to take off. (again) I do hope we also get more video content. I still would like more classic "fast peeks" at new games that are interesting.

Castor Troy

EvDangelion. It's right there.

Eric W

Man, Abby missed a good one to start on

Nicholas Sherman

Missed these days. The RPG over the holiday is nice but Austin and Dan on a Ramble Cast is beautiful. Can't wait for Abby.

Tom Marsh

holy god LOL

Ron Jones

I am so happy about this! I literally just canceled a couple days ago, instantly resubscribed as soon as I saw Austin Walker and Abby Russell as part of the show. So so so good to hear their voices along with Vinny and Alex.

Hen Arcade

Blarp in the 1998 Lost in Space film is a real high point in bad CGI in big budget films http://basementrejects.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/lost-in-space-1998-don-west-matt-leblanc-monkey-creature-review.jpg

Boogie

Great podcast right from the start.

huss

Y'all have no idea how excited I was to listen to this! Beaming from ear to ear!

Ron Jones

Hearing all of you on the same podcast out a smile on my face. A monthly throwback pod is great.

The Men in Black light gun game you all pitched is basically the MIB ride at Universal, right down to players getting Neuralized at the end. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5vh9TZEyc0U

Edwin Davies

Cody Kluska

Michael Bach

I have been listening to old beastcast episodes and literally just hit the episode where Dan is "visiting" and Austin came back and did the podcast after leaving GB. This is like a weird flash forward!

Brian P

Will this show up in my regular Nextlander feed on my podcast app or how do I do this?

Dirk

Holy shit this is the best.

The Spine

I hoped they'd add something to $10 tier to balance changing ramble and this is perfect.

Trevor Lewis

My dreams are coming true! Thanks to everyone involved for making this podcast a reality! EDIT: Not even two minutes in and it's already going places. Amazing. EDIT 2: Holy shit. This is Beastcast quality and then some. I love this so much.
