That Time I Got reincarnated Into A Goblin Girl Chapter 1

“Okay, guys, I’ll see you tomorrow,” I said, walking out of the bar. Tonight was another long day at work, and I was just glad that it was finally over. Not only that, it was a Friday which meant that I had the entire weekend to slack off and play some games and catch up on some reading.

“Hey, watch it,” some guy said as I accidentally bumped into him. My vision was a little blurry, and it was difficult for me to walk straight. I was defiantly drunk right now, but I didn’t care. I was planning on drinking some more when I got back to my apartment.

I mean, why bother caring how people see me. I was twenty-four years old, a virgin, and I had no family. There was no one to nag me about my drinking habits, and that’s just the way I liked it. No attachment ad nothing to weigh me down. I saw the light of the crosswalk glow green and I started to make my way across the street.

“Hey, you move it!” “Watch out!” “What’s he doing!?” I started to hear multiple people start to yell at me. I tried to turn around to see what they were talking about, but when I did for a split second I saw the headlight of a giant semi-truck come straight towards me, and then there was nothing.

“Wakie wakie,” I heard a high-pitched voice start talking to me. “Come on we don’t have all day here.”

My head felt like it was splitting open, as I began to open my eyes. When I did I saw that there was a little girl with glowing pink hair right in front of my face.

“Whoa! What the heck are you doing!?” I asked crawling backward from her.

“Good you’re finally awake,” the girl with glowing pink hair and a plain white dress said to me. “I was thinking that you’d never wake up. What would the other Gods think if I lost my very first summon.”

“God’s? Summon? What the heck are you talking about?” I asked her. Trying to stand up but I found that I couldn’t put any strength in my legs.

“Oh, the other God’s told me that you’d be confused, now what did they tell me to do?” she asked herself, acting as if I wasn’t even there. “That’s right, a grand entrance.”

“Hear me, mortal,” she said as she begin to float in the air and the glow around her hair started to emanate from her entire body. “You may bask in my radiance as I grant you a gift like no other! The gift of reincarnation!”

“…” Confused by what she was talking about and the change in her attitude I remained silent. This had to be some weird dream. I usually got them whenever I drank too much. Oddly enough though I never had a dream that felt this real before.

“That’s odd,” the girl said, landing back on the ground. “The other Gods told me that usually works most of the time. Why isn’t he responding to me?” she asked herself examining me as if there was something wrong with me.

“Oh no! did I summon a stupid one? I knew that these Americans weren’t the brightest people on this planet, but I never thought that I would get one that was silly in the head!” The girl kept rambling to herself for the next minute.

“Um, excuse me, who are you?” I asked the girl, grabbing her attention for the first time since I woke up here in this weird white void. Wait why didn’t I notice where I was, to begin with? I guess I was too distracted by this girl to even notice where I was.

“Foolish mortal, I am a God!” she said trying to sound superior again.

“Um I don’t think that’s going to work,” I said to her.

“What?” Why not?” she asked going back to her usual tone.

“Because I’ve already seen you go in and out of that voice so there really is no need to try and fool me,” I said to her, stating the obvious.

“Oh, is that so,” she said sounding disappointed. “The other Gods gave me all this advice for my first summon and I went and messed everything up.

“Um, I’m a bit confused here, could you place explain everything to me?” I asked her curious why this dream was so different than the others.

“Hah, leave it to you mortal’s not to be able to pick up on anything without any help,” the girl said in an arrogant tone. “Well if you insist I guess I’ll tell you.”

“That would be great,” I said, not at all bothered by her attitude.

“Well okay then,” she said, blushing a bit from embarrassment. “I am the goddess Tula. In sense, I am the goddess of your world. Or at least I am starting today. I have seen your pathetic life and have decided that you shall be given the chance to live again.”

“Wait, isn’t this a dream?” I asked her. “And what did you mean when you said that you became the goddess of my world today?”

“First things first, this isn’t a dream,” she said to me. “You are one hundred percent dead. Her have a look.” She snapped her fingers and I screen appeared midair, displaying a group of people surrounding something. The screen then zoomed-in showing that they were surrounding me! Or at least I thought that was me.”

“What the heck is this!” I yelled at her, trying to stand up, but once again couldn’t.”

“It’s just as you can see, you are dead,” she said. “You got way too drunk and then walked across the street right as a truck was coming towards you. They didn’t have enough time to stop and they hit you square on, killing you almost instantly.”

“No, this can’t be real! This has to be a dream,” I said, starting to panic.

“It is,” she said calmly to me. “Please calm down and listen to what I have to say, even though it won’t be to your liking.” Her voice had a calming effect on my body.

“I’ll listen,” I said to her. I didn’t want to hear it, but I knew that I had to.

“As I said before you are dead,” she said continuing where she left off. “It was an unfortunate accident, but there is a silver lining, and that is reincarnation. This means that you will be able to live again.”

“However there is a downside to this. Your soul is very weak. I didn’t notice it at first, but it is obvious to me now seeing that you are unable to stand. Your soul won’t be able to withstand being reincarnated into a human body. The only hope that you have at reincarnation is to be reincarnated into another world.”

“Wait, like the isekai genre from manga and anime?” I asked. I read a lot of manga so I was fairly familiar with this trope.

“Yes, though you have been misinformed that this only occurs in Japan. The God that was in charge of your world before me favored the Japanese far too much and only gave them the privilege of being reincarnated into another world. The other Gods did not like this so they had him demoted and I am here as his replacement.”

“You are actually my first summon, so I couldn’t be as god-like as I should have been. I wanted to make a much grander entrance.”

“It’s fine,” I said to her. “In fact, I like this approach of just talking. I may have just found out that I died, but you magically calmed me down and talked to me like an equal. You don’t have to take my advice if you don’t want to, but I think that you should keep this kind of approach.”

“I’ll keep that in mind,” she said smiling back at me. “Though let us continue. The world that you’ll, be reincarnating into is a fantasy world. I’m sure that you are familiar. Though don’t expect this world to be one of those RPG fantasy worlds. Your soul is far too weak to survive in those.”

“Though the world you’re going into is similar in certain ways, which I’m sure that you’ll find out eventually on your own. There’s no fun if I spoiler everything now is there. I also made sure that you’ll be reincarnated into a body that is a perfect match for the strength of your soul so there won’t be any negative side effects.”

“Well, that is all that I have to say, do you have any questions before we begin?”

“Do I get any sort of cheat skill?” I asked now a tad bit excited.

“Unfortunately no,” she said to my disappointment. “As I said your soul is too weak. Any cheat skill as you would call it could kill you. All that I am able to do is let you retain your memories of your previous life and give you an understanding of the language of that world.”

“Oh, that’s unfortunate,” I said. I thought I was going to get some cool power, but it would seem that I was wrong.

“I can promise you one thing,” she said to me. “No matter how bad it seems you’ll never fall into despair. Just keep moving forward and always live the way that you want to live. If you do I promise that you’ll experience I much more fulfilling life than before.”

“I can’t hold your soul here any longer,” she said as my body started to turn into golden dust. Oddly enough it didn’t hurt. It actually felt nice. Have fun my first summon, and may the favor of all the Gods shine down upon you.”

My soul finally faded away, as I traveled to my new beginning.
