Hero Introduction

“Pant, pant, pant. Is anyone there? Please answer me is anyone there!?” the lone soldier who stood on a mountain of corpses yelled out.

Warren Kane fought for years under the rule of his empire guided by the beliefs of the church, and he fought for what he believed to be right. Though as of now, standing over the corpses of enemy and ally alike his beliefs were shattered.

Each one of his allies was just like him, strong, brave and devoted to the cause. The funny thing is he didn’t even know what this cause was. They all followed the rules of the church with blind obedience, and without a shred of doubt what they were doing was even remotely wrong.

The cause that he believed in was one that he could no longer be certain of anymore after witnessing the blind slaughter that just happened before him. Both allies and enemies alike were dead and as of now he was the only survivor.

Even his best friend and sworn brother died in his hands mere hours ago, and now it’s painfully obvious that he died for nothing. Just like the many others that died from both sides died for what you now know was nothing.

Warren learned this during the battle while he watched many of his own allies turn into blood thirsty killer right before him. In the heat of battle death is a given, but what Warren saw couldn’t be described as just death; it was more of a massacre.

Even he was affected by this unknown bloodthirst. As he was fighting the enemy the moment that he killed them that was when it happened. It was as if his vision became red and he desired to kill everyone in sight, this included his own allies!

One after another they attacked him as he did the same and one after another fell under the weight of his blade.

At this point he could barely remember what happened, nor would he want to. It would have been better for him if he had not survived at all. His allies blood stained both and hands and sword. It was a constant reminder of his mistake.

This was nothing more than an atrocity created by the blind belief that Warren and his allies had for the church. At this point he thought that it might be better to just end it and save himself from this pain. However, fate wasn’t going to be on him.

“Help please someone help me!” All of a sudden he heard a voice from underneath the mountain of corpses to his right!

Feverishly he began to dig through the bodies one by one until he finally was able to grab the hand of the survivor and pulled him out. However, to his surprise the person that he had just saved wasn’t and ally, but one of the enemy troops!

War dictates that you must kill your enemies without question, but at this point the war was already over and the battle was won. Outside the scoop of victory lied the victors and the losers, but right now it was hard to tell which was which at this point.

This battle cost Warren everything. Everyone that he had ever cared about died I this war. He could take his anger out on the enemy before him, but there was no point. He was a victim of this war as well. He could have lost the exact same things.

The truth was that everyone that fought in this war were losers. The only real victors were those that were pulling the strings from the shadows. They were the ones to blame. They were the ones that cost you everything.

Warren understood that he never hated the man before him or the others on his side. In fact, Warren pitied them because they were just like him, and he wasn’t going to let this man die. He was going to make sure that ally and enemy alike would all survive!

After helping the man heal Warren and the man began to search for other survivors. If they survived there was sure to be others. However even after they searched for hours until the sun began to set they only ten other survivors. Everyone else was dead.

At the start of the battle Warren’s side had ten thousand soldiers well the enemy have seven thousand. Only having this many people left alive at this point made Warren glad to be alive, He beat the odds, but maybe dying would have been better.

Out of the ten other survivors three were from Warren side while the other seven were from the enemy side. Warren didn’t know how many survived and walked off the battlefield, but that didn’t matter as he and the eleven others were left here to die. They were discarded as if they were nothing.

As Warren and the other soldiers sat at the campfire later that night they discuss what led to this war. To Warren’s surprise the war was fought not due to the other side starting the fight, but because the church wanted to expand their influence.

They used Warren and the others as blind crusaders that would fight without knowing the truth. They fought because they thought it was their duty, but in the end it was just a sick trick, and the soldiers were the unwitting audience.

The church wanted power and so they created their own story. They were the righteous while everyone that stood against them were the villains. It wasn’t going to stop with this war, nor would it stop with the next.

The church would keep fighting to spread it’s influence until the whole world was under their control. They were the real villains of all of this, It was time to band together as not as enemies or allies, but partners that would stop the church before all is lost. It was time for a hero to rise and a rebellion to form.
