DQ is the original JRPG series (older than FF by about a year) and created the mechanics people associate with the genre. So, Cloud rocking the armor and sword of Erdrick is fun. (Also the grave in the original FF read "Here lies Erdrick" not Link, there was a rivalry between Enix and SquareSoft back then.)
