The Corrupted Hypno-Therapeutic files

There's little information about the creation of such files. Some claim they've been crafted by vile spirits, others believe they're not of divine or evil origin at all. One thing is however universally agreed upon by the Bureau of Extraordinary Artifacts and Thingamajigs, they're highly potent. Despite their unknown origin, BEAT has to date been tasked with a hundred percent of known incidents involving such files.

The problem with keeping track of digital files as opposed to actual physical objects is that their exact number is impossible to determine. They can be copied, shared and stored online as well as offline. While BEAT has been rather successful with their campaign against these files, there's only so many nooks and crannies of the real and digital world that they can cover. But one would be a fool to discredit them for their efforts, if not for BEAT, the files may very well have been accessible everywhere, with dire consequences on the world we know today. Thankfully, that is not the case, and actual events involving these files are limited to only a few each year. It is believed that each instance is linked to a common source, but no sufficient evidence of this theory has been presented as of yet.

The renowned "All-seeing eye" branch of the bureau, despite popular belief, is in fact, not all-seeing. It's difficult to a ascertain a concrete amount, but the best agents guesstimate there being an abundance of cases that go completely undetected. Of the on average ten yearly cases, a similar number of events are believed to happen undetected, only ever discovered by chance years after their actual conclusion.

A bit on the shorter side of things, but that's all the introduction I felt was necessary for this new branch of Artifacts of good & evil. This will take the slot of Cursed thorn, and is a commissioned story. It'll feature tags such as hypnosis, Gaslighting, IQ reduction and bimbofication. For those of you that thought that the thorns branch was a tad ..dark, this one will have a more lighthearted approach.

I also tried to sneak in a bit of "Lore" for the Artifacts Universe. I've entertained the thought of having different stories in the same sort of universe. There won't be any significant impacts from this as of yet, but I did want to lay a foundation if I do decide to take this idea further at some point.
