Greetings Patrons,
Let me first say thank you all for bearing with me through my NAS hard drive failure. At this time, the new drives have all been installed and parity checked (87 hours!). All my data was backed up on various USB drives so I didn't lose anything. During that time I could still create sounds, just not work on the web code. I managed to finish off the sounds for this new SoundPad during the upgrade and then finished the web portion. Now that this is finished I can start the process of copying all the content back onto the NAS and that's looking like about a straight week of copying. Phew!
On to business!
As many of you are D&D players, I'm sure you've heard about the upcoming module Descent into Avernus. Wizards of the Coast has been doing live events and interviews and basically getting everyone hyped up about this new setting, which is basically, hell, and a blood war between devils and demons.
One of the most intriguing and interesting aspects of the module is that there is a massive vehicular combat component - devils and demons, squaring off against each other in so-called Infernal Machines. If you're thinking that sounds a lot like Mad Max: Fury Road, then that's exactly what they were thinking as well.
I should mention that I have no affiliation with WOTC and have not seen anything of this new module. The sounds I created for Hell Planet were based on watching videos of the designers talking about all the cool features of the setting and then wondering what all that might sound like.
This is more of a combat oriented SoundPad, rather than an environmental simulator. There are 40 sounds here including engines, vehicle based weaponry, 3 layerable tone tracks and 3 musical tracks in varying styles that I thought worked with the theme. I had so much fun working on this. Who knows if it will hold up when the book comes out, but I think it works on it's own regardless.
Many of these are loud, front and center type sounds so it's very easy to create a bit of a sonic mess. So you should definitely do that because it's quite fun. Then maybe pull it back a bit!
I'm releasing this in Patron-only sneak peak mode (link below) as I'm still making some tweaks. This means that this page is not linked from any of the menus yet. Please feel free to share this with your family and gaming groups etc but if you don't mind, refrain from posting the URL online just yet :) I'll let you know when it's live for all (I'll usually announce it on Twitter). I'll be adding these sounds to the Custom SoundPad over the next week or so.
Thank you all, once again, for your continuing support.
Best,
Tim
