I Never Wanted To Be A Villainess!!! Chapter 1: Unexpected Rebirth

“Please punish me!”

“…What?” Rosa had hoped that she had misheard her, but there was no way that she would when it was just the two of them alone.

Flora Azalea, the main heroine of the otome game “Dark Passion”, started innocently at Rosa with a flushed face.

“Why do you want that?” Rosa asked nervously remembering everything that she did to get to this point.

“B-because you made me like this~,” Flora said, her cute pink illuminated under the sun shining in through the windows. With her looks alone it was no question why many men and women from their school had become infatuated with her. If Rosa was one of the main love interests of Flora, then she would have long since fallen for her.

But Rosa wasn’t even close to being a love interest, she was the villainess. It wasn’t a role that she wanted, but one that was forced upon her eight years ago.

“Ugh~, I had way too much to drink last night,” Ross said to himself slowly getting out of bed. Last night his boss invited him out for drinks, and he couldn’t say no. Everything became a blur after his fourth drink, and he didn’t even remember making it home the night before. …Wait was his bed always this big?

Rubbing his eyes Ross looked around the room, and he felt strange. His body felt lighter, and his hair seemed to be longer. What was…huh? A little girl? Ross stopped in his tracks, seeing a cute silver-haired girl wearing a white nightgown standing in front of him.

“Little girl, what are…my…my voice?” Ross tried talking to the girl only to discover that his voice had changed. It was much higher than normal. Though what really caught his attention was seeing the girl move as he did.

“N-no…what the hell is this!!!!” Ross screamed at the top of his lungs finally realizing that he was that girl and he or rather she was staring back at her reflection!

CLATTER

“Miss? Young master, young lady Rosa is awake!”

A maid carrying a wash bin walked in and dropped the bin onto the ground when she saw that Rosa was awake. Before she knew it Rosa was back in her bed surrounded by several people who she had no idea who they were.

“Is it true can my daughter really not remember who she is?” a man with silver hair like Rosa’s asked the doctor examining her. He had already asked Rosa several questions, but she didn’t know how to answer any of them.

“It would seem that the trauma from almost drowning in the lake caused her to temporarily lose her memory,” the doctor said Rosa’s supposed father.

“Will my sister recover?” the boy with silver hair asked, holding onto Rosa’s hand.

“She should in time, but for now she needs rest,” the doctor said, packing up his tools. “Please doctor don’t be afraid to ask for whatever you need. The entire house of Dawn is at your disposal.

“Thank you sir, I shall do my best...”

…Wait did he just say “Dawn”? Rosa’s memories as Ross began to settle as she remembered the plot of the #1 Young Adult otome game, “Dark Passion”.

Rosa Dawn was the famous villainess that tries to stand in the way of the heroine in order to progress the plot of the story. Normally Ross would have been happy to have been reincarnated as a rich aristocrat with the memories of his past life since that was his favorite genre of manga to read. He could have easily used the knowledge from his past life to avoid death flags, steal the love interests from the main character for themselves, and leave them with nothing.

This was the plot that he had always dreamed of. Or at least it would have been if this was going the way he dreamed it would. Ross was originally a man in his past life and never thought that he would be forced into the role of the villainess. He or rather she didn’t want to have to flirt with men and do that sort of thing with them. Despite her current appearance, she was still into women.

And there was the main problem before he died, Ross never even got close to completing the game. He had only recently downloaded it and barely had time to play it thanks to constantly having to work overtime because of his boss. All he knew was the basic plot of the story, as well as a few hidden characters and events that happen in the game thanks to some forums he read. Though it was confirmed that the game was a pay-to-win, and Ross could never enjoy games like that. Games that made you pay to acquire the true ending were the worst, so he never invested money in them at all.

From what he did know, the game begins when Flora, an eighteen-year-old commoner possessing rare holy magic, is enrolled in the Noble Clawthorne Academy Of Magic. Despite her rare aptitude for holy magic, she soon finds herself being bullied by a bunch of arrogant noble girls, led by none other than Rosa Dawn, who grew up with a strong prejudice against commoners. It wasn’t long after the bullying begins when one of the male leads, the crown prince saves her. The game then goes on to explain that the crown prince and Flora are soulmates, connected by the red string of fate. Then they fall in love and condemn the villainess (usually with death), and they live happily ever after. Overall, it’s the basic cliché otome game plot, but what made it different from other otome games was that there was over 1000 different normal endings and over 500 different 18+ endings in addition to the True Ending. Which currently as Ross knew, no one had ever reached.

This was all possible since there are a bunch of other male characters that the heroine can win over, such as the student council president, the personal guard of the crown prince, the high priest, and even Rosa’s brother were among them. Ross never had the chance to talk to many of the characters, but he knew from forums that they were all desperately in love with the heroine. There were so many of them that there was no way for Ross to remember who they were until they actually met face to face.

As for Ross, he was now Rosa Dawn, a silver-haired beauty with a resting bitch face. She valued her status as a noble and loved to show off. Buying tons of dresses and jewelry that she didn’t need, bullied her servants, and took pleasure in ridiculing commoners. Her character was designed to purely hate Flora was gaining the affection of her finance the crown prince. There are many forums flooded with information about the evil deeds that she committed along with screenshots of the multiple gruesome deaths that she had to go through.

There was only one known scenario where Rosa lived. She was stripped of her status and exiled, forced to live her remaining days as a commoner while the heroine claimed everything that once belonged to her. Though despite the hate for her, Ross couldn’t help but feel a bit sympathetic towards her. And that wasn’t just because he was interested in the giant breasts that the developers gave her character and the NSFW content that was shown in her 18+ endings. Though there was no way that she would want to witness those events now.

“Sister it will be alright~,” Rosa’s brother said to her, staying with her while the others left to discuss expenses. “It’s me, Roland. Do you remember me?”

His words were kind and sweet, as one would expect an older brother to be. Though Rosa knew the truth. He would fall head over heels for the heroine and abandon her. But why? Rosa was supposed to be a villainess that tries to kill the main heroine. Why would her brother choose Flora over her?

“Y-you’re my b-brother?” Rosa didn’t understand how to act in front of a child, so she tried to talk carefully around him.

“That’s right~!” Roland said, his face lighting up, seeing that his precious sister called him brother. Before her memory loss, she would never call him brother.

“W-what happened to me?” Rosa asked, feeling awkward, asking a boy that was younger than her mentally for help.

“You’ve been in a coma for a month,” Roland said. His expression was that of sorry, but he continued to force himself to talk. His sister deserved the truth. “Some men tried to kidnap you while you slept, but while they were escaping over the lake you managed to break free from them, and you fell into the lake. Father managed to get to you in time, but you swallowed a whole bunch of water, and you wouldn’t wake up. Mother hasn’t left her room in weeks, prying that you would wake up safely. …Those damn commoners! After all the sacrifices father makes for them, they still try to take you away and dare ask for more!” Roland couldn’t control his anger remembering his sister’s unconscious body when their father pulled her out from the lake.

She almost died because commoners kidnapped her. This was never anywhere in the forums nor the main story. Was this the reason why Rosa grew up looking down upon commoners?

“…I’m sorry I shouldn’t have yelled,” Roland said, seeing his sister's confused face. “It’s alright I promise that things will be different now~. I’ll go tell the maids to go prepare you some soup~,” he said gently, kissing her on her forehead before leaving the room.

Rosa touched the spot that her brother kissed. How could she have ever become a villainess with a lovely family like this? There had to be other reasons why she became one.

“Hmph, so I heard that you lost your memory,” a maid with bright red hair said, walking into the room without even knocking first. She carried a try with a small bold of soup and…wait was that bread? On the plate was a small loaf of bread that had mold growing out of it.

“Your brother said you were hungry~. Eat up~.” The maid forcibly placed the tray down on my lap making me wince.

“B-but…this is…”

“What are you too good for this?” the maid asked looking down upon Rosa, not even trying to hide her malice. “Don’t expect the chef to waste his time cooking you anything more than this. Your brother said that this was more than enough for someone like you.

“S-someone l-like me?” Rosa couldn’t understand what this maid was going on about. Had she done something wrong? And what did she mean cooked? Rosa couldn’t feel anything heat from the soup, it just looked like dirty water to her.

“It’s nothing that a filthy brat like you need to know. Now eat up, or would you rather I force-feed you~?

“I-I…huh?” Rosa stopped for a second when she saw a strange transparent screen appear in front of her, blocking the maid's face.
