Adventures As A Pokémorph Part 13

“The other Pokémorph’s that we have seen so far are the same way. Now if we look over to your cat scan, we can see that your brain remained relatively the same.”

“Wait what do you mean by relativity safe? I asked her. “

“As you can see right here, this is the cat scan of a normal Ralts, this one is yours, and the final one is another human patient that we have at the hospital. Your brain resembles that of a human, but if you look at this pattern here it resembles the same pattern the Ralts have. This could explain why you could use psychic abilities. Though that is just a theory that we can come back to later. For now, let’s do one more test today and then we’ll be done.

She pulled out a Pokéball and sent out an actual Ralts in front of me. “I would like to see if you can communicate with it. Just talk with it and tell me what it says back to you.”

“Sure,” I said to her, not expecting much, walking over to the Ralts. “Hi, I’m Josh. Who are you?” I know it was a stupid thing to ask, but I did so anyway, since I didn’t know what was supposed to happen.

“I’m Ralts!” it cheerfully said back to me, walking around my body as if observing me. “You are weird, you look like me, but you’re different, not natural, not right.”

“It says that I’m different from it,” I said back to the doctor. “It says that I’m not natural.”

“Interesting,” she said returning it to its ball. “It knew that you weren’t one of its kind. I wonder what would happen if you talk to another type of Pokémon. We can try that tomorrow. For now, you may go back and do as you wish.”

Back in my room Lila was ecstatic. “I can’t believe that you talked to a Pokémon. That was so cool!”

“If you think that it is so cool then perhaps you would like to be the Pokémorph instead, I said to her.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that,” she said back to me “On the bright side it looks like most of the rioters are gone now.” She was right there was only a handle of them left compared to this morning.

“Hopefully it calms down from here,” I said to her. “I don’t want my mom to wake up to rioters like I did.”

We spent the rest of the day in the room watching tv to see if there was any news about my father, but it was still about the virus.

“The Pokémorph virus has officially spread into the Sinnoh, Hoenn, and Johto regions,” the reporter on the tv said. “Only Kanto is unaffected now. A total reported 500 people are now affected by this virus, and the numbers are rising. Estimates show that within a week there will over 5000 Pokémorph’s.”

“Researchers are doing the best that they can to find a cure, but results have yet to be seen. Mass riots have been had today to quarantine the Pokémorph’s. It is believed that Pokémorph’s are indeed infectious and many people worry for the sake of their loved ones. It is clear that the world is changing and there is no telling what tomorrow will bring.”

“Oh my Arceus,” I said. “That’s 300 more people turned into Pokémorph’s within the day. Are we really infectious?” If I was I had to get away from Lilia, I could bare for her to catch this as well.

“Don’t try to run, “Lila said to me, holding my hand stub. “I’m not going anywhere even if you are infectious.”

“Thanks,” I said, leaning against her arm. “Without Lila here with me, I don’t know what would happen to me. I really didn’t deserve her as a friend.

A month had passed since then, and my mother had yet to wake up. More and more Pokémorph’s were administered to the hospital along with us, and my tests continued.

At this point in time, there was a total of 10,000 Pokémorph’s in the world, and several key disappearances, such as Professor Oak from Kanto and even Leon The Unbeatable Champion. No one knew where they went or what actually happened to them. One day they were there and the next they were gone.

In addition to that the hatred for Pokémorph’s has increased during that time. The way that they expressed their hatred to us was through what was called the PokéHunts. They would hunt down Pokémorph’s and would beat them to near death before catching them with a Pokéball.

We don’t know who found out it could be done, but Pokémorph’s could be caught just like Pokémon, and just as a Pokémon act differently towards the one who catches it, so does a Pokémorph. They became fully obedient to the one that caught them.

This was shown to the world on PokéTube. This boy’s abusive father was turned into a Trubbish Pokémorph, and he was caught by his son who had built up a heavy grudge against him. The father didn’t even utter a word of defiance as his son beat him to death.

The scene was horrific, and the feed was caught before the ending was shown. The boy was arrested for murder, but no one is willing to prosecute him for killing a Pokémorph. There was an ongoing debate about whether or not to treat Pokémorph’s like humans. The debate was absurd, but during these times, no one wanted to listen to reason.

There have been rumors on the internet about a Pokémorph trying to create his own region where the Pokémorph’s could be safe, but they were just that, rumors. Even if they were real I doubt they would let my mother and I in after what my father did. He was still missing and as the days went by it became harder to search for him.

In regard to my tests, they’ve been going well so far. Through them I learned that I could use all the same moves that a normal Ralts could and to make matters more interesting, my mother and I were the only two of the Ralts evolution line.
