October 4th preview: The Dwarf Mercenary Pikemen Unit!

Good evening guys,

Hope you are having a nice beginning of the week. Today we can finally show you the Dwarf unit we have been working on the last few weeks that will come next October 2022 Release along with the Transilvanya miniatures in Highlands Miniatures. 

First of all, we decided to offer a dwarf unit this upcoming month even if it is going to be a full undead release to celebrate Halloween because it was a nice opportunity to work on this kind of dwarf unit, a bit separated from the main core army of the Sons of Ymir -based on the norse mythology and aesthetic-. 🪓🪓

Since the beginning of our second season in Highlands Miniatures back in June 2021 we decided that we wanted to create a full fantasy universe based on our miniatures and armies -you can see the map of our fantasy world in the images of this post-, and not dictated by any other third company so we can have the freedom to create any other miniature or army without the limitation of other settings.

Since then, we have been working on a couple of armies as a main core of our range of miniatures, but we consider that is time to start bringing more connections between these armies, between the fantasy races, and more cohesion to our fantasy world with one goal in mind: to create a full fantasy setting behind Highlands Miniatures, with campaign and army books and many more cool stuffs! 🥳

But enough chatting! 

Here you have the first unit of their kind, coming directly from the continental lands of the Empire of Sun, the Dwarf Mercenary Pikemen Unit!

This amazing unit is composed of five (5) Dwarf Mercenary Pikemen Core Miniatures and three (3) Dwarf Mercenary Pikemen for Command Group. These miniatures aren’t modular. In the preview images you can see all the renders from this unit and also some screen captures from our modelling software to show you more views of the miniatures.

About the Dwarf Mercenary Pikemen

“…the Dwarf pikemen were respected and feared throughout the lands of the old continent as professional battle-hardened warriors, ready to fight under the orders of the Emperor of the Sun. They fought in lines creating an impenetrable wall of pikes while their horns resonate along the battlefield. The Dwarf diaspora of Sunland is one of the many groups of dwarfs dispersed along the old continent who had adapted their customs and traditions, even their aesthetic, to their new land…”

These miniatures are designed based on the Swiss Mercenary Pikemen soldiers from XIV and XV centuries. If you want to read more about these soldiers, CLICK HERE. The characteristic musician is based on the Swiss Hornblower from the XIV century as you can see HERE.

If you find this mercenary line of dwarf miniatures interesting, we will expand it in the long future with dwarf mercenary units from other fantasy races and backgrounds, like dwarfs from Gallia -our medieval kingdom-, dwarf pirates, technologically advanced dwarfs from Caladria -the land of the inventors-, and many more!

Also, our new fantasy Dwarf Army, the Sons of Ymir will also have an incredible unit composed of:

• Three (3) Dwarf Mercenary Pikemen Command Group
