@potato- A narcissist WILL "beg" to get their way though. And they will eat pity for breakfast. If you are pitying a narc you're feeding their "ME", you see. Its all about the inner ME. Each case is not the same but pity can be an easy buffet and the first step of the ladder for a narc to climb up on. Anyhow, none of those pages are ignored while making my analysis. A normal person wouldn't murder their lover. But he does not register it so much as he killed another person so much as I took away MY object of affection and I AM SUFFERING because I DIDNT KNOW WHAT I TOOK AWAY FROM MYSELF. He has not thought about Rogio. Not about his feelings. He thinks from his ME bubble. Its all about himself wanting something back. That being said though, I would not doubt too that he probably has created a psychological mask for himself in some situations, but its more of once you crack down some of his defenses he starts to not like the vulnerability of not being in control of his entire situation. (Actually another narc trait.) By looks of the new page, he hasn't changed a lick. His first words are already of the DO AS I SAY nature. He hasn't changed.

Why would he kill his pups? Ranach was so desperate to get Rogio back from the spirit but refused to give up his offspring in exchange for him.

Mostly main pointer that he is not specifically a narcissim disordered ; Narssissic people doesnt need/want to be pitied. They to not want to appear weak, and mostly they do not need to beg others, because in their heads they are the best and perfect. So yeah, no, with the begging to the spirit and "locking up no eating no taking care of himself", to me, it totally blow up the possibility of narcissism disorder. YES it is done for him and himself only, me myself and I attitude, but that does not mean its a narcissism disorder. Narcissic disorder is simply the simple label everyone slap on it as soon as it is self-centered and manipulative. Second point will be more about Rogio ; he is not naive like Ronja and Roamer. If it would just had been a narcissism problem, it would had been overcome way quicker than it has. Problems clearly started when Rogio tried to snap Ranach out of all the lies. The fact Ranach threw away his rank of supreme leader while ; giving power to a female, walking opennly publicly like a weak piece of crap, not caring about power/what others think of him (narcissics are OBSESSED by that part). Weak or not mentally would change a true narcissic habits like that. He dont hide its because of Rogio either, so he openly let visible for everyone to potentially know about his "affairs" that he was obsessed about hiding. Its totally unlogic for narcissic persons to do that : generally they will hide their pain by making fun of the person they killed/thing that hurt them/the mistake. They will take all the pain and use it to prove they are the best and are flawless. If he would had hidden his weakness/not begged, yup it would be narcissism right there in bold caps. But a narcissic not obsessed by looking flawless and perfect in front of "plain normal inferior people"? Ish. That alone to me cut it off the possibilities. ➡➡ He is narcissic, but not up to the point of it to be qualified as a disorder.⬅⬅

^ I could agree, only if we would put aside the whole bunch of page as soon as he leave Rogio at the sacrifice stone up to now. These pages are the most neat showcase of the fact its far from simple narcissism. Mostly because a narcissic person would NEVER purposely showcase himself as a weak for manipulating (giving power to Ronja, locking himself up in depressed state and letting leader paint fade, etc.). The main difference is that, YES, his depression is about how he feel and "himself", BUT he never learned otherwise in this "me myself and I" Aedra. The only fact he starved himself before leaving for the praying stone showcase a total opposite of narcissism behavior. Ranach DOES suffer since Rogio tried to snap him out of his web of lies, it is clearly not faked at all or done to manipulate anyone. He went to the SPIRIT to BEG. A narcissic will NEVER. BEG. Never, just purely never. They will die rather than begging because begging is the total opposite of the definition of being narcissic. That's exactly the very very fine line that divide narcissim trouble and pathological liar. The pathologic liars will see no issue into begging, faking to look weak or giving power roles to other to brush them on the good side. Both can't "change" per say, unless LOT of work done into the chosen way. Magical changes doesnt exists. But again, i will stand it ; narcissic persons do not ever beg, showcase inferiority, etc. Even for manipulating. The fact that he went begging to a superior entity to get Rogio back... thats not narcissim. Yes its for himself, but a narcissic wouldnt beg, even less in front of a "god" kind of being.

Ranach is not a pathological liar so much as a narcissist. He's all about himself, there is no you to the situation with a narcissist unless there's something for them to gain. They may cry foul when they're in trouble from tumbling off their pillar of salt they will build from using others, but that's because OH ME, OH POOR MEEE. He IS a liar, but the root of his lies isn't that he can't tell the truth as it is his total narcissism. Living and dealing with these kind of people is hard, draining, and excruciatingly toxic because they CAN be charismatic and sometimes you can see the glimmers of what could be a better person under it all (which means it can be extremely easy for a narc to abuse an altruist), but its very hard for them to change that "ME" way of thinking. Even if someone were to take him in to try to help him, its very likely that his natural disposition would feed off the kindness of others and cram it right back into the narcissistic bubble once he's back on his feet. These people do not change easily. At all. If ever.

^ I do believe it's more a pathologic liar disorder caused by the inbreeding, rather than narcissism by upbringing. ( mainly because the Baron was Savas, not Ranach. He was the "second" in line, not the first, thus he as not been raised as a "champion future king of all" that would lead into narcissism. He was in shadow of his brother. A bit like Scar in TLK. ) Inbreeding cause a lot of mental issues. So far the most showcased is mostly the fertility rate and physical issues. But tons of mental illness can be caused by inbreeding, and I think it's the major indicator for Ranach. Pathologic Liars can "realize" they lie, but they can't -stop- doing it, no mater the reason, they just can't. They will always lie, even for some stupid irrelevant thing. Some will notice and apologize right afterwards, but most tend to believe their lies and eventually sink into their own universe of lies. Ending up believing all their brain make up, and the only glimpse of "reality" looks to them like the lies. ( CF : When Rogio almost made Ranach realize that he was sinking into his own world of lies about himself. Ranach denied, treating the real facts as if they were the lies. ) In the last few pages with Ranach, I do notice that he start to understand that, indeed, he is not a "emotionless monster" like he showcase he is ( he lies about himself so much that he LOSS sight of what he is inside, he don't know who he is. he know his name, his family, his territory, etc. but not who he is. is he a bad guy? is he a good guy? is he friendly? is he not? He don't know. ) He realize that in fact, Rogio was right : He was lying and believing into his own lies. Enough that he "demonized" his illness : He 'killed' Rogio because he was the only thing making him doubt about his lies. Rogio was the only "proof" that he indeed was ill mentally. To Ranach eyes, Rogio WAS his illness, because he was the only one that was able to see past the said illness, and see Ranach for Ranach. We clearly saw that he realized that and clearly went into a regret mode towards what he 'did'. The real question is : Will Ranach embrace his illness and kill the future pups and go full immoral like he always pretended he was? Like, a big "anyways the only one believing into me for me is dead now, I shall live like an horrible monster and be forever hated so let's give them more reasons to hate me". Will Ranach embrace what Rogio told him he was, and fight against his illness to prove Rogio was right and take correct care of the pups and Ronja? As a "I did the error of getting rid of the only being that was there for me, but I will prove everyone that he was right about me, that he wasn't stupid or crazy like I told he was. I will honor his memory and beliefs by being the dog he always claimed I was without all these lies". Those are the two main options I actually see, and must admit I can't wait to see, because it's a really White or Black change when Pathologic Liars make a "choice". There, Honestly, the choice of fur pattern for Ranach is even more interesting. We already suspected it was linked to his personality. Me I see it even more now as representing the choice of a mentally ill being : embrace your illness or fight your illness. Will he chose to go black, black as Savas, who was actually who Ranach was describing when talking about himself ( the lies Ranach told, that he was emotionless bastard, etc. etc.. That's the description of his brother. ), lead like Arenak would had. Or will he chose to go white ; as a blank new canvas. Accepting who he is, accepting he is mentally ill, accepting his errors, accepting his past, accepting his family. Yet, instead of letting darkness consume him ( easiest option in the current situation ), showing everyone that he may had lied about a lot, but that he was RIGHT on one particular point : How Arenak and Savas leaded the tribe was WRONG and he, Ranach, can do WAY BETTER. These, my folks, is the Y path where all good "vilains" and "heroes" goes through before reaching their high moments. It's what I call "the breaking point". Which is something that everyone with a mental illness face at one point in their lives : do you want to be the monster everyone tell you are, or do you want to prove them they are wrong? *quackes*

My biggest curiosity is where he is at mentally. I think early on in the story some commenters came to the conclusion that Ranach had narcissistic personality disorder caused by his upbringing. Given the fact that he broke himself, and looks quite rough I wonder where he is now.
