Also remember they have to stop more frequently to let their moose feed and drink. and take into consideration the size of the group as they can only travel as fast as their slowest member - which is likely the moose. Plus on top of that they have to stop and investigate for signs of new packs or follow up on any rumors they've heard (Thus, checking in on where Asmundr used to be) so naturally they will travel much slower than a single dog who has no restrictions who can essentially jog the entire time.
