This is starting to spoop me now. Roamer looks like he feels sympathy for Avantifegr.

*vibrates* heavy werewolf-like thing vibes there, and I love it.

Freemja brought up Ranach being the possible cause first. It's not unlikely, given their attitudes, that they did keep such knowledge... Heck, maybe they were the ones who locked her up in the first place.

Not sure what you exactly mean but if you meant that this was her past, it's still different. She was actually looking for strength as it was stated on pg 274 since she was seen as weak and prayed to Sterkr (Spirit of Strength) in order to gain strength and be seen by others but that backfired. It was also stated on pg 122 by Kargo. "You turned to the evil spirits, prayed for strength and power" She ended up killing her family and her beauty was taken but this spirit is different.
There's not much known about this spirit yet but it seems that maybe she was really self-centered and beautiful at one point but lost it? She was rejected by her family so either it meant that she was one of those who often use others by manipulating (in this case with her beauty) and was cursed and had it taken away, almost like Aira. Not sure what her backstory may be or what she is capable of doing but it has to do with beauty, that's for sure haha
Hope this somehow answers your question lol

Oh man, I agree with this entire post as well. I'm excited to see what's next but I know it's likely not gonna be pretty.

Okay, I really do love where this is going. I do have a chill down my spine out of fear for the characters. Especially after seeing how BIG Avantifegr's footprints are in comparison to Fremja's in the second panel. Ranach's ominous words already convinced me Aventifegr's a pretty dangerous threat, and seeing how big those footprints are only convinced me further. But hearing Fuss talk about Avantifegr is what makes me the most intrigued. Because Avantifegr's story has a LOT of similarities to Aira's, and I'm sure that's no coincidence. Avantifegr was an outcast, and was refused affection wherever she turned, even from her own family. But unlike Aira, who turned to Sterkr to gain more strength after being cast out by everyone, Avantifegr was cursed by the one she loved to live a life underground in shackles (and perhaps assume a monstrous form due to that curse as well). Her given name, Avantifegr, seems especially cruel in light of the words Ranach used to summon her. I'm already very certain someone, or several someones, are going to die before Avantifegr is stopped. HOW she'll be stopped, though, is the bigger question. Killing her already sounds like it would be no easy task, and perhaps the solution will come about by finding a way to break the curse. Whatever happens, I'm both nervous and excited to find out. And also hoping this backfires on Ranach big time.

I love this page and love where the story is going, though I feel so nervous for the characters! Just wanted to point out one small grammatical error - in panel 6 it should say "The words to summon her HAVE long been forgotten" :)

His mate is Vandi, who is the mother of Ranach and so mated with Arenak. She maybe was his favorite. Maybe he told her this kind of stuff, and so Vandi told it to Fuss.

Much like all of the beasts and spirits, Avanti is known by pretty much every tribe. It's only the words to summon her that has been forgotten over time. Since they saw tracks from her, Fúss just assumed that Ranach knew the words, knowledge probably passed down by his father and grandfather.

How would Fuss know about a spirit if he was only there for a year? Words or not, many have forgotten about this spirit over time (besides the Jarls of MT) then how would he know? It's not like he chatted with Brodir, Arenak, or Ranach. That doesn't click for me

Wait a minute, didn’t Aira explain this about her past?

i dont see how that points out the lover was a female? The "she" refers to Avanti.
Dont take me wrong, nothing against it, but nothing in this page refers to a lesbian pairing of any sort.

"The one she loved" so females relation, nice! We never saw this kind of relation for the moment, i'm interesting to see the creature and to know her history! Wonder why her lover cursed her?

Fúss must really feel he knows Ranch and his family well enough to jump to this assumption so quickly. Even though we know he is right, and it's a safe bet just given the context, he's still going out on a limb to proclaim Meteor jarls would keep that kind of information.
I wonder how much more of the dark spirits they know, clearly quite a bit as this would be the second one we've seen Ranach interact with in one way or another. This also makes me think of when Johnna threatened paying a visit to dark spirits. How common of Meteor knowledge, or Aedra knowledge, in general, are these things I wonder.

I hope the 4th panel is made into a wallpaper <3
And I thought her name meant beauty, not lacking beauty. This is certainly getting interesting 🤔
