That's actually a cool idea. No confrontation but make him haunt Ranach. With the scent of his dead love lingering in the forest. Either it works or Ranach just realizes that Rogio is still around.

Load her up with Rogio's scent, maybe have him run around the forest brushing himself against things.

Hmm, good or bad ideas aside, Rogio is kinda dialing in the old school MT behavior by shuttering Vigr down and pulling that "NEVER HEAR THIS AGAIN, IS THAT CLEAR?" mentality. Oof.
Will Ronja step in though? All that lacks is a threat at the end and its on the same level of the bahavior she's been trying to work out of the tribe, hmm...
While that idea of using Rogio as bait isn't necessarily a good one, he IS right that something needs to be done against Ranach still, unless they all just wanna sit there and get plucked off slowly. And Rogio MAY need to be involved in dealing with the problem, at some point.

Rogio doesn't seem like the kind of dog to get super angry though. He's always been docile. It would probably take a lot to get him raging. And maybe he is being selfish, but he's allowed to be. I'm sure the tribe will think of something. If not then maybe Rogio will step forward and face his fears. We will see soon I suppose!

I like Vigr, he just has a big mouth is all. xD Like how many times did Fuss have to tell him to stfu when they confronted Ranach before Ronja banished him? He's a good boy, just doesn't know how to shut his mouth sometimes. Even with that said, I think his plan is brilliant, but should probably have approached it a different way. I don't think Rogio should have to be subjected to that if he simply isn't ready though, I would want nothing to do with Ranach if I were him too.

@Tora got ya 👌 @sillyazura Sorry, I still think he is. I'm aware that he does not want to be used over and over again, no one does. But don't forget, Vigr is also a victim as much is Rogio. Vigr wants to get rid of Ranach too and move on with life. I don't seeing this as being used, it may come off like that, but I don't see it. If anything, Rogio should have anger in his heart right now and directed towards Ranach not Vigr. His partner was injured because of Ranach, he himself was almost killed by Ranach and he was being used from Ranach. So at this point, Rogio should feel anger at this time for all the lies and for Roamer and the tribes safety. Again, its my view on it, you don't have to agree

Well Vigr actually had a good idea, it's better than to hide from two very dangerous dogs and starve because they are afraid of them. He maybe didn't tell it in the right way, due to Rogio's reaction, but it could be a good idea. Still i can understand why Rogio is negative about this. Let's see where it will lead, but the tribe will to think a lot to find a way.

Rogio isn't being selfish. He is standing up for himself because he is tired of being used again and again. Ranach used Rogio multiple times for pleasure, never caring for Rogio's feelings. Rogio has every right to turn that idea down. It would be wrong for his friends and lovers to encourage that idea because friends and lovers shouldn't use each other even if it would save the tribe. That's something Rogio has to choose to do, it should never be asked of him.

I'm not picking up the "suck it up" attitude from Vigr, I'm picking it up from commenters who do know everything we know, sorry that I didn't make that part clear ^-^; I don't think he's shitty himself for it, but he does know that there was something between the two, and he also knows Ranach left Rogio for dead to be picked apart by the night beasts so he turns into one himself, which they also know is a very unpleasant thing to be, so I think he could have thought a little more and realized that maybe, it's a shitty suggestion, especially at that moment. Roamer comes in pretty badly injured and Rogio is obviously affected by this, so to then just dump on him "hey I know you seem to be close to this guy and you're worried about his health (not that he said that part, but) but also you should use your old abusive lovers feelings against him" is definitely in bad taste.

Yet Vigr is not a psychotherapist. They don't have the ressources we, as readers and human beings, have.
From a story perspective, Vigr isn't being "bad" or "telling Rogio to suck it up" (idfk where that has even been picked up tbh xD). You can't expect someone who haven't received education on a certain subject to know/react accordingly to it.
Ronja and Roamer knows, Dogs outside the MT knows, because it has been taught to them. Most of the MT dogs don't know that stuff.
Vigr just look genuinely happy and innocent about the solution he found and don't understand Rogio's reaction at all to it. It's the basic behavior of someone who don't know trauma, nor how to deal with it. Not because they're "evil" or "shitty persons", but because it's not in the package of knowledge they possess as far as now.
Expecting someone to know how to deal with that is exactly as shitty as expecting someone to "just get over it".

You would think, with everything that tribe put everyone through, Vigr would understand the effects of trauma and understand why what he is asking Rogio is absolutely ridiculous. The tribe is important, and all of them should do what they can to help, but it's just plain shitty to ask someone, or to even expect someone, to be okay with what he's proposing. I definitely agree with KFC, in everything they said. Trauma is trauma and you can't just expect someone to "suck it up" for the good of the tribe and face their abuser who tried to murder them in one of the worst ways there are because That's. Not. How. Things. Work.

Honestly, idk, Vigr doesn't seems like he's having any ill intention here, his body language is clearly not menacing and he seems more happy about Rogio*Roamer than be actually mad or judgemental. He just have the annoying "older brother" kind of approach about that part.
For the other part... well.. yeah he have no tact but he's still kind of right ; it is War. And it is a powerful advantage in their battle.

Haaa I don't think it's so easy taking sides here... Which is partly why Home is a good story actually; it's never all black and white and every event has their bright or darker sides.
While I'l not overly fond of Vigr's attitude, which is... ambiguous to say the least, this may be the only solution they have, and I was actually wondering who will eventually come up with this plan since myself I've been thinking about it a lot lol. For a good number of pages now I was like "when will there be that fateful Rogio-Ranach encounter?". So whether it was Rogio or someone else bringing it up, it would have had to happen at some point... Now, Vigr probably didn't do it the right way. And it's pretty hard to tell what his true intentions are, with all the teasing and stuff... He didn't put himself in the brightest light at the very beginning of the talk, pissing off Rogio already, which is quite a bad way to then introduce such an edgy point... I mean, of course Rogio would react badly, with what happened in the past. It's too early for such trauma.
Yet I agree that they do not have much time left... And as a Baron, Rogio might need to sacrifice his own feelings for the well-being of the whole tribe. I'm pretty sure they'll all ponder over another plan if they can, but it's the only good one in my opinion. They can't rely on sheer strength with Ranach & Ulfr summoning beasts, not in their current state of relative weakness and low numbers. Rogio is their one and only advantage, both thanks to the surprise effect and the feelings Ranach had discovered.
I also hope this new load of information won't, indeed, push Vigr towards the idea that maybe he was better off under Ranach's command... I mean, first he was unhappy with Roamer being a Baron, but now discovering that they're lovers it may lead him to think that maybe Rogio had supported this "favoritism". And now this. .-. That's a lot for him in a very short spawn of time, and I'm afraid he could start being resentful against Rogio and the whole hierarchy, even though he'd be wrong to do so.
Now I'm also curious about the next few pages. Since Roamer and Ronja kinda seemed they heard the argument from a distance, Roamer will enquire about what happened and we might have that long-awaited Ranach talk between the two!
2018-08-30 14:13:14 +0000 UTC
I mean, Vigr forward the plan in this page, right? And Ronja and Roamer will probably ask what happened, and say what Vigr said, and they go for that on how to do the plan if they descide to go with it. And HOW to do it. That's what I meant with "ways to do it", out of Vigr's plan. XD

Why not Vigr, though? If no one else's plan is working then someone else is gonna come up with another plan to get the job done. It may sound harsh, but in life you can't sugar code everything, sometimes you have to be blunt to get your point across and Vigr is that type of character. Instead of Rogio losing his cool, he could have said he will discuss with Ronja and Roamer and dismiss Vigr. But since he didn't, now it would seem they have lost another member or two since Javo sticks with Vigr. Hopefully Vigr is still on their side and aid them in the upcoming pages

The plan itself is not wrong. Just need more thinkthrough and not by Vigr. That way Rogio might understand and do something. I hope Roamer and Ronja can understand and such. Let's see what happens next. ^^

I side with Vigr here. Yes, it could have been said or gone differently and I also can see Rogio's point of view and he refuses. But, all I can say is Rogio is being selfish. Don't get me wrong it's understandable why he doesn't want to, but if this is a way to rid of Ranach then he needs to step up. As baron of the Meteor Tribe, the health of the pack comes first before any of his needs. And if he can't protect his tribe, then he should not even be Baron at all. What Vigr said has given them the advantage because Ranach was a mess when he thought Rogio died. Also, Rogio should feel anger towards Ranach and fight back for what he did and not keep running away from his problems or dark past.

Out him Vigr, you're an honest lad. Out him in front of the rest so Ranach can be gone.
2018-08-30 04:57:50 +0000 UTC
Ah, trauma. It always comes in the most unexpected ways. Vigr is right of course, technically, but there is more to the story then meets the eyes. Rogio DO know that Ranach had feelings for him, he even knew it before Ranach himself, but he left him to die anyway. Seeing him again could not only trigger all that night again, but also old, unwanted feelings. Ranach was most likely Rogios first love, so seeing him again, the one who nearly killed him, left him to die a horrible death after dumping him emotionally, too, would make him not only miserable but vulnerable as well. Rogio knows it would be the best idea to use that, but at this moment, it isnt possible for him. Vigr pushed him and that is why he snapped, as rare as it might happen.
On the other hand, Vigr is kinda right- it's the best thing they could do by now, if the tribe want to survive. So I guess, Rogio will do so eventually, which might lead to the faithful reunion of the two former lover, both of them having a new one, Ranach by force (his deal) and Rogio by choice.

I’ve never saw rogio snap before but vigr isn’t totally wrong. They do need a advantage and rogio really is it unless they abandon the home and move. But I also know ranach will be thinking something is up plus I wonder does rogio feel like he might fall again that’s y he can’t face him

I agree with everything you've said, even though I agree his plan would've worked the way he approached Rogio about it was VERY wrong and daresay rude. Though, I do also think he was trying to help, he just did it wrong of that makes any sense?
2018-08-30 04:32:06 +0000 UTC
I've read this over a few times and my thoughts have changed. Originally I felt a little bad that Rogio shot down his idea, but now I think that Vigr asking him this was incredibly insensitive and disrespectful. Or, at least, that's how I'd feel if it was asked of me if I had the same experience. Rogio doesn't want to think about Ranach, let alone see him in person. He was sacrificed by Ranach and would've died without our friends help. His emotional damage must be deep after everything. Vigr prances up to him like he's not high ranking, carelessly teases him about his choice to be with Roamer, and then slam dunks it with asking Rogio to confront Ranach and abuse it for their advantage. Rogio loved Ranach. Vigr doesn't view what they had as real, though, so it's perfectly fine in his eyes to ask Rogio to use Ranachs remaining feelings for him to lure him into a trap. NO ONE would ask this of someone if they even had a drop of understanding or empathy. If you were left alone in the forest to be gutted and ripped apart by monsters, would you be okay afterwards? You'd want to heal, and to remove any trace of the incident at all so you could move on. He wants to use Rogio and doesn't perceive him as an equal, or even someone capable of basic emotions. He's ridiculous for asking this of Rogio, especially after Roamers injury during a time of high emotion- again, he doesn't care. Rogio is just a tool he thinks they can use and his feelings are irrelevant. Vigr brings it up casually not because he's being friendly, but because he views Rogio as underneath him.
Vigr's being an idiot and I feel like his lack of empathy/total disregard for Rogio's feelings come back to his discomfort of male x male relationships. He's shown disgust at them before and I think it makes him view Rogio as some kind of scum. If it's not to do with the male x male stigma, then Vigr's a sociopath. I know he's grown up in a shitty environment, but he has a lot of re-learning to do on basic treatment of other people.
