Tip- Preparing a background for multiple use

Just a quick little tip on creating backgrounds for comics or something similar.
I often create the background before I start coloring the page. It gives me a base ground for what colors I should use and the perspective we see the characters from.
By painting a background on a large canvas, I can later take sections out of that background for certain panels, something like a close up on the character will take a small frame out of the background, while a large panel will take a much bigger frame or the entire background.

It saves time and makes things a lot easier, especially if the background is saved in a PSD with the layers intact so that I can change the time of day on the background if the same scenery will appear again in later pages.

The default 72, I think I had a higher number in photoshop on my old computer but I can't remember what that was.

What dpi do you use for those

I like the idea, it also gives the readers a sense of familiarity of the area to see the same/similar backgrounds :)
