Update about CF4 “Dramas”
Basically organizer did not apply for Artist visa/working permit for overseas invited guest & performers ( we were NOT informed as well, basically we did not know there’s such laws )
Organizer was released yesterday from police station (after 24hours detained) and paid a huge amount of money to bail himself out.
8 female guest performers/cosplayer were arrested and jailed in Malaysia for 2 WEEKS, 3 Malaysia cosplayer arrested and released yesterday night (after detained in police station for 24 hours)
Add on : Overseas cosplayer that were jailed for 2 weeks will be banned from Malaysia for 2 years (If I’m not wrong)
3 cosplayers are from Singapore , 1 are from Thailand and 4 are from japan & hongkong
We were lucky enough to get away from this ( if not I’ll probably be in jail right now )
This has been a really traumatizing experience for me as it’s my first time traveling overseas for anime conventions. I really hope such things will never happen in the future and anime conventions will take note of it , this is a really serious issue.
If you actually go online/Facebook and search for CF4 you’ll be able to read the news.
I’ll be more careful next time when I travel for overseas convention as well :c yes I have lots of fun meeting new friends and fans despite all those issues, I’ll definitely be back in Malaysia for more conventions next time
