That bear look very sad..... i would reallly like to know what the intention behind his action is...

Sarah wagner

Kargo may be muscular but i highly doubt he could push a 500 600lb bear. Kargo is one of my favorite main characters other than roamer and rogio.

Tyler Buehner

i feel like there's more to kargo's ability to push the bear off then we think...

I believe the math needs to be corrected a little. 1.25x is the same as +25%. A 130lbs (60kg) dog bench pressing 330-440lbs (150-200kg) is rather unrealistic, especially since the muscle action in a gallop vs a static push is quite different. Most human body builders would struggle to do that. It is literally impossible for a dog, even a strong genetically enhanced dog, to overpower a brown bear in the manner Kargo did, amputee or not. Judging by the size of the bear in relation to Kargo, in top condition it would probably weigh in the 700-800lbs region.

...But then again, knowing Kique, we all might feel bad for thinking these things about Kargo in the first place, when new informations arrive...wouldnt be the first time haha. But yeah like I said in my answer- supernatural explanation (being kinda like Aira/Avanti but in his own form and aggressiveness is less when he has emotional support and high if not) I can live with, as I dont hate Aira/Avanti for their actions, it's grey. If he is just killing around for how own sake with no reason to do so, yeah, then fuck him. That's fucked up and yep, he always was a favorite so that's saying something. finger crossed for more behind his actions tho.

Kuni

I think it might really be a spirit and/or a demon or something like that which could explain the aggressive behavior that always stopped when he had someone who cares for him. If that is not the case tho, if there is no supernatural explanation which kinda forces him to do so (which would be understandable and still grey, but like Aira/Avanti maybe not entirely free), I am completely with you guys, because if he ONLY did that because of him being angry, then he is fucked, yeah I agree, absolutely oO

If people are curious about the mechanics, I had a look at the numbers for this. According to this study (<a href="http://jeb.biologists.org/content/210/2/208" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://jeb.biologists.org/content/210/2/208</a>#F4) the maximum forces from each of the forelimbs of a galloping dog are about 1.25x body weight. Kargo seems like a pretty heavy-set dog - let's push for, say, 60kg - and he's pushing down with both legs. So taking the upper limits, he could be capable of putting out a max force equivalent to 150kg (feel free to contest the numbers here - I'm doing some very crude scaling). Now, the bear's not all that healthy. It could weigh only 200kg or so, and it's not going to be able to put all that weight through a single front leg - maybe only half as much (being on top is actually a disadvantage here, as Kargo's weight pushes back against the ground whereas there's nothing pushing down on the bear from above - hence why I took a maximum force for Kargo but only compared to the weight of the bear). Plus, Kargo only has to do a relatively small amount of lifting upwards before he can sweep out to the side slightly and take it off balance - lacking the other leg makes the bear particularly vulnerable. So, I'm reckoning that this is just about physically possible without having to call upon any spirits. I'm interested to hear what people make of this though!

First of all - I love this comic with all my heart, but this is what I feared was going to happen in this page. Kargo; (Sorry he's starting to form somewhat of a Gary Sue vibe with me) - Saved and the bear just picked off like its nothing. In real life this wouldn't be so - a dog would be torn to shreds, so his strength came from somewhere and I'd love to know where from. I truly dislike Kargo - He's a gorgeous character design wise (I know I've mentioned that before) but his actions make him ugly. I don't feel bad for him - Cuz you can rise above your troubled past (I know from experience) so that's not a good enough excuse in my opinion. It also doesn't make a difference that he's "Saved" other's in the past - that doesn't give you the free pass to abuse other's when you want to - or do what you want when you want, so not a good enough excuse once again. Shame on you Kargo - I feel bad for this bear - he was just simply minding his own business and get's murdered by some dog who trespasses onto his property. I hope we get some form of answers for why he did this. Maybe some light will be shown upon it, and it won't be as bad but right now, just full on ugly it is.

Darn, somebody's been doing his push-ups....but seriously, I have the feeling there is a whole lot more behind this scene than we think.

Aerophoinix

Well... there goes my hope of Kargo learning a lesson.

Spiritstrike

Ugh. I REALLY dislike Kargo. Quickly becoming my least favorite.

Haley Kuntz

Definitely a spirit, there is absolutely no way he could have won otherwise. It could even explain his aggressive behavior. I guess soon enough Kargos secret will become clear and whoever had prayed for him. Or he even is the incarnation of the warrior spirit himself, who knows. Something like that it has to be.

Kuni

Go figure main character saved and innocent lost. In all actuality he didnt have that knife he would be good as dead or for sure gotten a lesson knocked into him.. Dont get me wrong i love the comic, but he is a canine much smaller then a big grizzly .. Odds are not so much in Kargos favor... Plus he wont feel any sympothy for the bear, idiotic dick.. &gt;_&gt; 👎

VonTriggers

Poor Bear... he couldve run off meh.. whyy Kargo qnq

WolfieYote

Dang, he seriously should have died there. A small adult grizzly weighs at least 500-600 (227-272 Kg) pounds...

Corvin

Yes. how and why please. Now I know what Ranach meant with Kargo´s strength. I doubt many dogs could´ve lifted that bear´s paw

Yami

So much for learning a lesson I guess. Kargo just moved up the dislike scale right behind Ranach at this point. What a prick.

Peentz

Poor bear... Now Kargo, give a dang explanation!!
