Ow my heart, Lil puppy 😭

Trixi

I remember a comment a long time ago that Ranach could have something called Narrsistic Personality Disorder. Caused by the abuse given by his father. I think Ranach thought he overcame his father by killing him, but as we see here he has not. I am curious on how he handles his own demons or if he is consumed by them

Defhammer

What a great way to build up a character, first you make us hate him, then you make us understand what made him this way, excellent!

Aerophoinix

I feel bad for the puppy, not for the dog.

*Psychopaths are born

In reference to my previous comment... Ranach used the same manipulative words against Ulfr that his dad used against him. Comic page 374.

Being abused doesn’t excuse his actions in the least, but I sure do feel bad for him. I do understand why he turned out this way though. Some of the other males of MT were able to avoid being manipulated, at least completely, but Arenak paid extra attention to his sons. But, again, there’s no good excuse for his actions.

Skybird

That's a very interesting thought. Maybe Arenak did that with the pups born in the tribe. As for Galti though I think he just kept a low profile and played good soldier. Especially after getting punished for failing at his new job, a few days after being accepted into the tribe. And we don't know what they did to him before that. Fúss mentioned they had beaten all the confidence out of him.

Yami

He was such an innocent pup. And then his father pushed him and abused him to make him into the monster he’s viewed as.... in this moment he is not just showing signs of weakness, he’s vulnerable and alone. Almost hard to feel completely sorry for him.

Spiritstrike

Btw, it's blood on the last panel with Arenak? (I have dark screen, I didn't notice it first time). Is the moment when Ranach earned his scar on face? Just only beacuse he was scared and calling for mother! Arenak, you monster!

So.... This scene actually makes me feel sorry for Ranach. As someone mentioned above, he wasn't born evil or manipulative. Arenak molded him into the dog he is today. If I remember correctly, Ranach used these same words with Ulfr when he refused to destroy all of the Meteor Tribe. As I have mentioned a few times in comments, no one character has been one-dimensional, and that makes for a great story. The only exclusion to that was Ranach. WAS. Here we catch a glimpse of an innocent pup being tortured by one who should have protected him (this obviously is the start of many "lessons" Arenak gives.) Wonder if Arenak did this to all his sons? When Kargo was taken away, he was a little bit bigger. What brainwashing do these male pups go through? I have a feeling that Arenak gets some spirits involved. Kargo- a spirit of wrath Ranach- a spirit of manipulation Savas- a spirit of indifference Think of old Galti how quickly he became accustomed to the Meteor life. Galti- a spirit of (forgetfulness?) (Not really the right word 😐) There has to be more than just straight manipulation, right? Even the fact that Aira mentioned the Meteor Tribe's story, Kargo mentions it to Ronja and Ferah, and even right down to the fact that Ranach summoned Avanti makes me think that the dealings of this Tribe with spirits runs deep. (Sorry for the long comment! Just my observations lol)

I feel sorry for Ranach. He was born as innocent pup, the treatment from his father made him what he are. I wonder if Arenak was evil himself or he was treated the same by Bródir? Where is begin of this circle of violence? But Ranach always seemed to me very emotional one, even if he hiding with his feelings. I doubt that he could do the same thing with his own pups as his father did to him. But I think Savas would no resist even to sacrefice his pups to dark spirits, what Ranach refused to do. I wonder if some of them was born with some predispoditions to be evil (tendency to agression is hereditary to some extent), but Ranach didn't? Maybe that's why his father was so cruel to him, beacause he was more sensitive? And he was calling for his mother, so he had close bond with her once. (By the way, Savas looks like totally degenerate if he could mate with his own mother, I think Ranach never would be able to do that). Maybe now Vandi could try to reach to him, maybe he isn't so doomed yet? Poor lost soul, he was totally brainwashed!

Syria_Black

Arenak didn't have his meteor painting?

Kitty

Aw baby ranach is very cute! Nice to see more of Arenak

Kitty

Poor ranach but did savas get the same treatment I wonder

Jasiri

While Ran is the worst character for me in the story, even trumping Kargo, I gotta admit this is hard to watch. Makes me wonder what Arenak was planning to do here. Was he about to drop him to the beasts 300 style?

Peentz

Aww he used to be the cutest little fluffball! For some reason I never expected Ranach to have nightmares from his upbringing. Then again I didn't expect his father to go that far to dangle him over a pit of ghouls. ...I mean I obviously know growing up in the old MT days wasn't pleasant and he had a good reason to become the dog he is today but I thought he'd kind of "forgot" about it (if you know what I mean) and excused it as "That's how it works here, this is normal, that's how you make good dogs." since he's never seen or experienced it any different. Very interesting page! I wonder if Arenak did this to every pup or just with the pups he had higher expectations from. Ranach and his brother too, if I remember right, used to be barons after all.

Yami

He was innocent once. Psychopaths/sociopaths are made. Not born. :/

WolfieYote

I wonder if his dad gave him his scar at this point?

Skittles

Dang poor Ranach I hope we can finally get into his background and see why he is the way he is I mean aside of the tribe he was raised in ... I know he is evil but I’ve always felt bad for him. :(

VonTriggers

Closer look on Arenak! And puppy Ranach! And we see even more of where Ranach's behaviour comes from.
