WIPs - August

I decided that instead of making normal text posts with pictures that no one can see apparently because Patreon is like that, I'd make mini montages of my current works-in-progress instead, so here is what I'm working on at the moment.

In the upper left corner, you can see the way I do my thumbnails. Basically, whenever I have an idea that I want to put down quickly so I don't forget it, I quickly whip this up and do a tiny grayscale thumbnail. It also allows me to practice composition without worrying about the colours, which is an amazing exercice for any artist.

In the upper right corner, you can see the first sketch of the possible cover for Daughter of Summer! I'm super stoked about this project. The more I look at this cover the more I'm thinking about changing the background colours to a more faded blue light, to give it more of a misty morning kind of vibe than a bright colourful morning. I'll have to change it up and see what works. And also you can see the sheer size difference between the two main protagonists, Lionel and Selendy. Lionel is pretty tall, even for an Ikrouk!

In the down left corner, this is actually a WIP of Predaking, from Transformers, as requested by someone on dA who won second place in a contest I was offering prizes for. The person won a speedpaint, but I still took the time to flesh out the sketch, because man, those Transformers characters are full of little details! This'll be fun though. He's supposed to be a dragon, but the way his mouth and face was shaped reminded me a lot more of some kind of worm thing, so I guess it came off that way in my sketch.

And finally, in the down right corner, is a portrait of Ignitus, from the Legend of Spyro series! I showed him last time I tried to show off WIPs but since it didn't work, I guess nobody saw it, so here he is again. This is the refined sketch, where I went over the messy first red lines with clearer, darker red lines. What comes next is the lineart!
