Added 2017-08-26 16:37:13 +0000 UTCThe Ruk't(s) are a species distantly connected to the Ikrouks; they are to the Ikrouks what monkeys and apes are to humans, connected but far from the same. They share a common ancestor from long, long ago from the beginnings of times on Etaliari, and that connection has made them very dependant on one another for survival. Ikrouks have mounted and trained Ruk'ts for ages, making them a very important part of their daily lives. Each Ikrouk is given an egg at a young age, and the Ruk't that comes out of that egg becomes that Ikrouk's companion for the rest of their life. They share a very solid bond.
Ruk'ts are omnivorous, so they eat meat, fruits and plants. They possess sharp teeth for tearing, but also molars for masticating, so their jaw is capable of moving side to side like an Ikrouk. They use the crest on their head for many different things, mainly to defend themselves and their riders against bigger predators. Their long, muscular legs allow them to run long distances at various speeds, making them primordial for long journeys across the land.
Ruk'ts can be fond all across Etaliari under many different appearances, each bearing a differently coloured coat to match the environment. With their hollow bones, Ikrouks are so light that they can stand on a Ruk't without impeding its speed or balance, and that often helps a lot while hunting. To ride a Ruk't, they can either stand on them, sit on a saddle, or fly overhead and guide it with clicks and whistles.
