Inktober 2019 - 17 and 18 - Ornament and Misfit

About 17 - Ornament: 

"Soft clicks resounded in the room as she walked, slow and steady. He had heard those clicks his whole life, her claws hitting the stony floors of this dark place. Never did they talk, never did she interact with the likes of him, but always did he watch her back and listen to those clicks. But from what little he knew, from what little he could observe, he could tell; the glowing ornaments adorning her head, the gold leaves decorating her robe, the crown atop her brow... they were just that. Ornaments. Decorations. As she walked away and disappeared behind a line of guards, he briefly brushed the thought that, maybe, she was like him under those gold leaves..."

Here we have the first viewing of Empress Miassly, the leader of Etaliari! She is an incredibly old lady who strangely still looks the same as the day she was crowned Empress, the Protector of the current King, and will remain so until a new Pale takes his place. With her age comes wisdom and knowledge, and an odd feeling that she is everywhere at any given time, observing everything at once. A very complex character that I cannot wait to explore in the comics!

About 18 - Misfit:

"Hey! Get back here! You dirty little thief!!"

She looked down at the little rakja that had been following her all day, eyes full of tears and hope that it wouldn't make a noise to alert anyone of her presence in this alley. It looked up at her in response, tail tucked between its legs, and hid further behind her. Clutching the bag of rice she had stolen, she closed her eyes tightly. She wasn't made for this life. But who would feed a dirty little misfit like her?"

Meet Hakto! This character will not be present until later volumes. She is a young wingless and nameless Ook girl, far from home trying to survive on her own, with little success. At least she's not so alone in this, given a little rakja is with her. It doesn't have a name yet, so if anyone has a suggestion, I'm all ears!
