Now this, I've been working on for an embarrassingly long time, but it is finally done! This is the cover page to my brick novel of a fanfiction that I have been actively working on since last May, Phosphorous Snowfall. As of posting this, the fic is over 400 pages long, and I suspect it will reach 600 by the end of it. It's a passion project outside of my original works! And so, I wanted a cover page that would best represent it, and if I'm being honest, I'm quite proud of the result!
This is, I believe, the first time I actively attempted rain drops in water effects, so as a first time I struggled a lot with it, but overall in the end I like the result. Looking back I would have ditched the lineart and go full painting because of the time loss, but I can't deny the practice it gave me for linework. I included the whole process of the image, which I documented all through the months I've been working on this. It was quite a long process, but one full of learning experiences! It was fun, but I'm glad it's over!
I definitely want to do more cover page work, there's something about it that I've always found interesting as far as storytelling goes. You have to tell the story, the mood of the story, show the characters of the story, all in one image. It's quite the challenge, but a fun one!
