I'm reading this right before work. Why!

Morgran

Noooooo!

Morgran

At least the Romé haters will probably finally be quiet now - for my part, I will miss him immensely as I really loved him as a character. I think my heart just broke a little.

lynxir

This broke me, Rome was one my absolute favorites, and I adored the way he treated Jahla like a absolute queen.. he was such a sweet character, ahh this hurts

Kaiyolovu

I liked Rome and I'm sad to see him go. I think he was very good for Jahla and am disappointed we won't see them continue to grow or his impact on the Asmundr pack.

Linda RK

With this Page... i always have to think about the Moment, where Jahla and Romè went to Argeirrs rescue... the ones trying to attack them, told Romè he had a tender neck... Foreshadowing maybe?

Jessy

NOOOOOO NOT ROME

Tae

Rome ... im so sorry boy

maxy

Ultimately Marduk doesn't want them dead, he wants worshippers. I don't think it's incidental that he's only killed a 'stranger' that meant nothing to Father. He wants to possess what Father had, so until he decides that there's no chance of forcing the Asmundr pack to submit /without/ killing any of them I don't see any other members dying. Also the angry Rohgir preview makes me think that this might lead to a potential hostage situation in that regard to press Rohgir into making Marduk the god-ruler of the Akiulfr.

Kaikree

I agree I don't like Jahla that much. I like a few things about her like being protective to her brother when he got attacked. But I still think that she also had this unforgiving task from her grandmother and all we saw since she left the island we saw her fail and fail and fail and it wasn't even her fault really. Like she took those dogs in and hoped that her kindness would be enough to change their minds. And she also can't really do anything about it. We saw Ronja grow immensely yet at the same time Jahla is Ronjas exact opposite. And she had chances to change things and tried but she was always harassed by the dogs for it. Who knows what was on her mind when she saw the pack dying? But I think from a storytelling point this just HAD to happen. Because if you need to have a hero you have to break them at one point in the story. And the stronger the character the harder to break. Like in One Piece where Oda had to make 3 fucking arks about breaking Luffy and crushed him finally when Ace died. Jahla wasn't broken like the others. Roamer when Kargo died. Ronja was broken right at the beginning. and if you look closely the weaker the character the weaker the snap needs to be. I am working on a whole critique on this comic since I got my PhD a while ago and now I have time to spare. From a narration point of view and a psychological point because I think Kique did a really great job at displaying different forms of trauma and maybe without even knowing it. Every character is a little masterpiece in my eyes because of that. <3

Martial Cat

I couldn’t agree more! While I love Jahla and understand her feelings, she is not the best leader like she said herself. She has what? Abandoned her tribe multiple times now? She doesn’t listen to those around her and she has made so many mistakes. I hope Rome’s death opens her eyes and she grows..rip sweet boy

Crystal

ROME!!! 😭😭

HandyVixen

I was not prepared!! Thinking the snap was someone else making and appearance.....awww Rome you will be missed

Rolls

Perfect song! ROME NO! What are the odds the crack wasn’t his neck 😭😭😭😭😭

I agree with a lot of points you make here. Jahla is one of my least favorite characters, because to me, she has not grown and learned her lessons while others have made such incredible progress. She ran off impulsively at the start of the comic and got seperated from her family. Then ran off again when she went looking for whoever howled for her (Romè). She tends to simply run and not think, and even if it caused problem after problem she seems to not have learned a thing. I was deeply saddened to see romè pay the price for that, if i am honest. I truly hope if she does survive this that she finally learns her lesson and becomes less hot-headed and impulsive. Mind you, this is in no way a critique on the writing at all, just my personal opinion with her specific character, she is definitley written very well and as someone that has been here since the early Asmundr days, the comics are hands down some of my favorite media ever.

ArtemistheArtist22

impuslive decisions lead to dire consequences unfortunately :( RIP Romé 🙏🙏

K1PCORE

But I still agree. It's a hard lesson for her know. I don't think that she won't blame herself for any deaths coming up. Either because she acted out of emotion or for not considering certain options before. Like talking to her grandmother first for further information on him. But I still think in that urgency it wouldn't have made any difference because the pack still decided not to wait for her as she told them to. And one has to consider that she just wanted to go there whatever she planned was torn apart by seeing the pack die under Marduks torture. That's a rough situation.

Martial Cat

Daaaaang! Just a reminder that death can be sudden and can hit anyone…RIP Rome

HomonculusHound

Don't get me wrong I understand your point and your reasoning. But what you are doing right now feels to me like a bit of victim blaming. Kainan would have tried to flee even if she showed up or not. And they were held hostage the whole time. I don't blame Jahla for trying to do something. I would probably do the same. And it was Romes free will to follow her. She didn't ask him to do so. Well if anyone wouldn't do anything they would live and have peace. Great. But peace without freedom has no meaning at all. And we can all stand from a higher point and say "oh she should have known blabla". Please don't get me wrong at this. It is just how I see things and I am not intending to insult you or any other. Now since this is a comic, lets get away from reality a bit and lets talk about how she could have done better. The writers could have done that and maybe it crossed their minds too. But lets keep it real it would just be too unrealistic for Jahla to lay down a bit, come up with a super duper mastermind plan and save the day. This is what you'd call a marry sue. The realistic way however was to be angry af, rush at him and try to stop him. Rome said she should calm down for a sec and think true but for a young female as Jahla... not a chance. And even if she calmed down that moment, they wouldn't get any idea how to neutralize Marduk. And even if the pack would be dead anyway if now the raibisu (I think this is what they are called) maybe step in in the last second and sneak attack him. I don't even know if she knew about the obelisk. I should look that up now but I am lazy. In fact, what I'm saying is: Since Marduk is the bad guy here, they (including Jahla) are the victims and saying that she should have known better is victim blaming in my eyes. From that point of few Kainan knew that Marduk barely sleeps and he should have known that he would sniff out their little plan to flee. So he put the pack and the babies in danger. Rhov doesn't know how Marduk would react to the babies. He wanted to flee and put the pack and the babies in danger. Get what I'm saying? Who knows what they should have done? For all they knew it was the best move. And having an emotional reaction to that info about Marduk that he basically destroyed the planet Earth, killed their father, poisoned their mother, nearly killed the pack when he tried to invade earth, putting humans on their place, tried to kill Roghir... of course you get emotional and stop thinking. I do not know what I would do but level-headed would be the last thing. Everyone knew better yet they tried anyway. Like the people in Germany 06/17/1953 going against tanks with rocks and sticks. But yet again peace means nothing without freedom. And another point: I mean come on xD If no one died it would be boring. I mean, it's a miracle Ronja and Fraujar didn't loose any members during the raid. But the raid was a little thing against this foe. At least Ronja COULD do something realistic. Like moving to a higher point to counter attacks and all that which is why no one died. But this thing? Here someone need to die from a storytelling point of few.

Martial Cat

Agreed

SleepyFernweh

I beg to differ, yeah, she "saved" Kainan (for now) but at what cost? What exactly did she expect would happen? Its not the first time she rushes in, except this time she knew the immense power of her ennemy. Yet she didnt stop a moment ( between leaving her pack and reaching asmundr pavk ) to think "hey, so, maybe it will get someone killed because, yea, he (marduk) stood a chance against multiple sky gods". She just does not take the time to think that her actions have consequences. Her "saving" Kainan is merely luck that Marduk got distracted for 3seconds. After which she was already on the ground in no better shape than the others lol. The scrolls + knowledge she gained from them was the others only chance, yet she just tossed it all to run in. She didnt go according to their plans (use the scrolls/etc to find a weakness in Marduk), she just, again, did her own little thing. No matter how they survive (if they do), it wont be thanks to her. It was their only option. If she loved Romé so much, she wouldve known he would follow her lol, so yea she didnt force him but, as usual, she knew better. This is all based on info we were implicitly shown in the pages of the comic, excluding any other "extra" knowledges she may have had off-pages. And to be honest : whats the point if she saved Kainan or not, when anither died in his place 2seconds later? Thats not a win what so ever lol.

LangJingshen

While you do have some points I don't think she is to blame. The only person that killed him was Marduk. Her behavior wasn't right, I totally agree with the rest of your points but it's not like she forced Romé to come with her or Marduk to kill him. In her mind, seeing Marduk nearly killing Kainan and her family might even prove that in a way, she *was* right because if she hadn't come in that moment to stop him, we don't know if Kainan would still be alive.

Kuni

Dont get me wrong : i absolutely like the way its written. This is a positive comment towards the story, but also a "yeah, Jahla, I saw it coming". Its like watching a kid trying to run across a street multiple times, first being stopped, then dodging, then getting hit, then doing it again and getting hit w/ friends.

LangJingshen

While im sad, its /exactly/ what Romé warned her about as she ran off without thinking (again). Its a harsh lesson but so far nothing else has managed to make her understand to stop rushing into things without a proper plan. I am understanding how the info she learned blinded her, but in a way, she's at fault for rushing and not listenning (yet again) to Romé, and he paid the ultimate price. She never learns. For hell's sake, he's a god with a free-kill obelisk that she knew about, what did she expect she'd be able to do? She literally read that Mardul stole/killed entire species from MULTIPLE sky gods, as if she could do anything. To me at this moment she's like a chihuahua charging at a dragon, knowingly/willfully. She 100% is to blame for his death, as she had many, maaaaany opportunities to correct her behavior. I feel sorry for Romé, he deserved better than that. In that aspect, Jahla is just reaping the consequences of her repeated behaviors. And she's gonna realise it (if she does) too late (because its already too late, he's dead).

LangJingshen

Ok just rip my damn heart out and spit on it ig... God I hope he's not actually dead 😭. Jahla deserves every drop of love he gave her and imma be pissed the rest of the comic if he's gone. 😤 But I have a bad feeling that death is approaching another soon tho and I'm terrified...

DrowZy

Nooo, no Romé :( Sweet boy... Fuck off Marduk

Ruska

Wait what??? Just like that? Romè didn't even get to comprehend what was happening or say goodbye. This was so sudden. I liked him as a character a lot, i am very sad he got killed off so quickly :(

ArtemistheArtist22

AGGGH!!! COME ON!!! Too much suspense! Holding out hope that Rome's just knocked out...

Jacqui Ball

Something is up he threaten to snap her neck if she growled she did and all he did was throw her to the ground. She may be affected by some of his power not all. He just wants them to submit to him. Jahla better be careful before her family is next

MiraCON

I thought I didnt really care for Rome but damn I am heartbroken anyways. That is a rough panel.

Dreamer

man he was doomed as soon as he became her love interest. I wasn't expecting it to be so sudden though.

Noxus Light

welp, saw that one coming. knew he'd die as soon as he followed her. I never cared about rome but damn, that was cruel.

Noxus Light

that silhouette in the 4th panel gives me the CREEPS, man... Sad that Romé had to pass the way he did, but it kinda makes sense- Romé was the only dog there who Marduk had no prior knowledge of. Easier to use him as an example :(. It's hella scary how it's so easy for him to end their lives in an instant like that

Han

NO! Romé D': Now i want to see Marduk get ripped apart, Romé didint deserve this....

Jessy

Rome didn't deserve that 😭

❁bimph❁

…..WHAT

Kiera-Ann Kelly

Wow… even though I didn’t like Rome as a love interest for Jahla, I did still like him well enough, as a character… really didn’t expect you to kill him off. =/

CorruptAngel

Romé didn't even get a chance 😭

Tora Collita

Please tell me you're joking ;-; I wanted to see Jahla and Romé have a peaceful life together one day after they figured everything out and beat Marduk's ass 😭

Crystal Victini

touyikie
