Last Imperium - TTRPG

In Sweden we didn't really have American role playing games, but quirky localized versions, so I'm still learning about what's out there. This time I decided to look into Traveller and Cepheus which is an open version of it. Since I wasn't wowed by Traveller's setting, and since I enjoy making my own, I started on just that. I plopped some of my early Lore notes here and might update if I get any further.

I'm drawing inspiration from my High Crusade project:

and Asimov's Foundation books, then a bit from my Triplanetary escapade on Twitter (I lifted the Rigelian design I did based on a description in the books).

And then Star Frontiers of course. Star Frontiers has a quite neat little selection of diverse aliens and that's a feature I wanted (rather than a super-wide setting with a less clear identity). I really just did a bunch of random aliens but with some kneading they might come together. Some humanoid choices, and some less so for quirky play.

Slime: Spemin/Dralasite. Maybe pranksters, but overall the races are quite similar psychologically as others were filtered out of the Imperium.

Bunnymen: For the furry appeal.

PSI worms: These are PSI mages (kinda had to be since they float) and probably inquisitors. For the Dark Character player. But really, they just look sort of evil. They're just like you and me. Except they float.

Greys: I made these beefy barbarians. They probably drifted over time (from something like the X-COM Sectoids), as the Imperium is very old.

Humans: Not much to say, but I'm thinking they can change like in the Culture books (body build, sex, etc). Changing base stats might be a problem in DnD, but in Traveller the PC's body stats are not nearly as important, and the main character sort of is the ship anyways. If a PC dies it's the ship continues.

Bugs: Gotta have them I guess. They're in the suggested races in Cepheus Light Upgraded, along with Grays and Lizardmen.

Furfle: Cute fluffy things, and sort of fun like the Slimes.

Land Seahorses: The elegant option. Maybe a substitute for elves.

Barrel boy: Rigelian... a sturdy brute of sorts. Dwarf/Ogre.

Nautilus: Some minor aquatic race. I might do a few of these that aren't playable, but appear as NPCs as they're quite intelligent (maybe they're Navigators like in Dune? Similarly, I've outlawed computers).

Ships: Wanted these to be heraldic, like old WHFB Bretonians.

Instead of pitting the races against each other (kinda tired) they are all part of the Imperium, which in turn is divided into factions, some more unsavory...

Undecided on who the Emperor might be. Probably A PSI worm, or bunnyman as that's kinda unusual and memorable. Either way, the other one gets to be chief advisor.

Edit: Attached some other relevant images for reference (from Twitter). The ship design style on those are different as they are for Traveller and Triplanetary. Also did a cover, similar in layout to Traveller, but inverted. Perhaps it'd work well under one of those fold-around gloss covers. Imagining this a smaller book, stapled. A5-ish I guess?

Hi Niklas, I am a new member of your Patreon page. I am a big fan of Traveller and am currently running a campaign. I came across your art while looking for new ship ideas. I LOVE your ship designs. They have a great "look and feel" to them that I can't quite put into words. They just look RIGHT. I have designed a ship based on your illustration of the Packet Transport.

My group has played “Traveller” with a multitude of rules systems and settings, the biggest deal is that we have a group to play with.
