Warlord - Locations
Added 2021-09-09 22:00:18 +0000 UTCLocation notes. It's easy to miss details when reading and imagine a different thing. ERBzine has some reference notes though.
Aaanthor lies on the coast of a seabed, backed by mountains, so it might work as-is on my map with the direction Carthoris approaches it from.
Omean is an underground southpolar sea accessed via an artificial volcano shaft. Excess water is pumped north across the entire planet and I guess pours back down south again via rivers and canals, also being used for irrigation by the various red men settlements along the way. I'd probably scale that down a bit because it seems excessive.
Apparently there are wide highways. Maybe they fell into disuse with airships (which became a thing 900 years ago iirc).
The atmospheric plant is... 9th ray powered and the whole process doesn't make much sense. The atmosphere evaporates(?) from the entire planet in a few days if it stops working. I might change it into something else.
Greater Helium has a scarlet tower. Lesser Helium has a more yellow one... I forgot most of the details.
Lothar is encircled by impassable (sheer cliff) mountains, which is a bit strange because Burroughs' Mars doesn't have big mountains, but hills. Maybe low oxygen makes mountains hard to trek, but there's airships, so probably not an issue. Ships do fly low though from what I remember.
The Lotharians very OP psychics which might be impractical in the story so I might have to do something abut that.
Older cities use a sort of rolling cylinder door. The other sketches are just some explorations.
