I wanted this design to be a bit different from a regular spider to give it identity. I turned the front legs into mandibles of sorts, partly to remove some legs for a simpler look. The body is more like that of a hermit crab or snail. The maw I borrowed from a recent Kruggsmach design (Crimson Trumpets series). Normal Cave Spiders are just 50 grams and hunted by cats like other vermin class creatures. Apparently they're useful for producing silk, but difficult to farm. Larger creatures which shoot web are some of the most difficult to fight.
I think the Draltha are "giraffe" type animals, yellow, with a mane, but I wanted to give them a long body instead instead of just doing a giraffe. There were a couple of extinct tree grazers (including a sloth) which stood up like this.
Edit: Removed tail and added a big mane version loosely based on a Zach/Tarn drawing.
Now, Dralthi are similarly coloured and flown by a creature with a mane. One of my favourite ship designs, as is, and I don't think the sequels followed up on the design particularly well, going more for cool and spiky.
Edit: Just wanted to do a skull, but ended up adding a few more cave things, like ant men, Troglodytes, Blood (Wo)Men, Voracious Cave Crawler. Creatures in the caverns probably won't be wearing/wielding gear, unless maybe they can pick some up from fallen adventurers. Troglodytes seem to have hair (maybe a light fur coat) in a great variety of colours, but I made their skin olive (not pale pink) as that's their icon colour. They're probably quite dirty and mossy. I wanted to give the Blood Man a more fluid look, with a heart shape chest. I don't think they have sexes and "man" here just refers to the humanoid shape. The Voracious Cave Crawler does not have bones, so maybe it should be flatter, like a predator flounder. Mine ended up looking a bit like a predator pig. Not sure how their teeth are mounted, with no jawbone, but maybe they have some sort of hardened structure. Squids worked it out with their beaks. On ants the limbs attach to the 3-part middle body (thorax) so I added segments to bring the legs up, and the breast muscles are also extra leg segments. It was actually a hard to find belly-angle reference of ants (I failed) so I made this chest arrangement up and they're humanoid mutants anyways.
