Jim says it better
Added 2017-12-07 12:25:10 +0000 UTCAnother creator explains the new patreon stuff better than I can, so I thought I'd share it.

One of the things that a creator did prior to Patreon is when using Paypal send out a link to the email of the purchaser of a website to get access to extra artwork.

2017-12-08 14:03:13 +0000 UTCIf you stay on here or do something like Ko Fi or something else I am for it. I got on here to support my friend. Wherever my friend goes I go. Wither you stay or go elsewhere. You have my support.

2017-12-08 04:25:40 +0000 UTCYeah, I was pretty sure that was how it was going to be, but didn't want to guess.

2017-12-08 00:51:31 +0000 UTCAnd actually they've updated their FAQ now to be clear that they're going the "We're incompetent and throwing Chris's money into a fire" route.

2017-12-08 00:48:39 +0000 UTCJohn, it's not that I'm upset about paying the fee per-se, but that either Patreon is being greedy or incompetent in how they're going about this. I support 3 patreons currently, but Patreon charges me in two separate transactions each month because reasons. So either they're going to charge me three transaction fees but only charge my card twice a month going forward, meaning they're pocketing an extra fee each month, OR they're going to charge my card three times and then they're just throwing my money in a fire, because they could be saving two transaction fees by just charging everything at once.

2017-12-08 00:41:08 +0000 UTCFor myself, I'm happy to pay the processing fees if patreon is collecting them either way. Is there a fee increase wrapped up in here anywhere?

2017-12-07 18:26:24 +0000 UTCKeep us updated if you lose support. I'm currently one of the $1's but I could make some adjustments and up it a bit if its necessary to keep it afloat. For every person that drops support, if those of us that remain step up from 1 to 2 or 3, that could make the difference.
2017-12-07 16:50:19 +0000 UTCI don't like the changes. A % or a flat fee, pick one not both. I have quite a few $1 pledges and I'll probably have to drop a couple but yours will not be one of them. You are one of the most consistent content creators out there and I would like to see you continue just as you have been all these years.
2017-12-07 16:26:27 +0000 UTCI'm a LOT more concerned that the creators I support, and especially you, Jackie, since we have similar health difficulties, don't actually lose any funding over this.

2017-12-07 15:15:19 +0000 UTCI have no plans to change my pledges... and if I do it will be to rearrange. I could easily drop a pledge to one creator that, at this point, really doesn't need my $1 or $2 and use it to bolster my support for those who do. I'm REALLY pissed, though, because this is the first I'm hearing about this. I should have expected to get notification from Patreon about the change, but haven't.

2017-12-07 15:11:40 +0000 UTCNot going anywhere, Jackie. I might have to readjust a bit, but you're the last person I'd want that to affect. We've got your back.
2017-12-07 14:49:42 +0000 UTCIt's a shame when large companies start dicking around with how content creators earn their money. Youtube is going through a similar thing where their bots are restricting or outright halting ad revenue on videos (particularly independent creators), and the shemozzle of trying to get their works re-monetised is a fucking nightmare! I hope this policy change doesn't impact your income stream, Jackie. Just... see what happens, I guess.

2017-12-07 12:59:42 +0000 UTCYou are not losing me, but I do need to consider restructuring my pledges for unrelated reasons.

2017-12-07 12:42:44 +0000 UTCI'm sticking around.
