Added 2017-12-13 02:45:18 +0000 UTCOkay, here is a stopgap for until I find a service that can help me distribute content. I guess I'll just make all the posts free except the NSFW ones. If you're a small pledge patron you can switch to this, or if you just hate Patreon's general attitude now you can switch. Hopefully a new service that isn't quite so green eyed will step up soon. I have high hopes for Drip at the moment, but I'll be watching out for something that seems safe.
Oh, by the way, follow me on here so you can still see when I upload content. Since it will be public you can still use the email system to get notifications.

Well, looks like the changes are on hold for now. Now, I can see the problem they had with the current system, but there are so many better ways of dealing with it while still including the very popular payment aggregation. I would not at all mind paying the percentage fee and the fixed fee on a *single* monthly payment, but on a dozen pledges it just feels wasteful.

2017-12-13 15:38:51 +0000 UTCCouldn't agree more. Their competitive advantages over other payment processors were aggregating micropayments (the reason why I joined too), and relaxed attitude towards NSFW content. They are dropping one of them outright, and the other is questionable too from what I read. I'm not withdrawing pledges right now (they might run afoul of my limit of number of daily transactions though). But once there is alternative...

2017-12-13 11:31:10 +0000 UTCWhat bothers me the most is the increased payment processor overhead as a percentage of my pledges, from de-aggregating charges (the reason I joined Patreon in the first place). Currently leaning towards upping the overall amounts, rather than than dropping low-amount pledges, or maybe dropping a few low-amount ones and setting up a yearly recurring thing for them instead. Really wish they'd been smarter about this. They're solving a problem much like a person dealing with a stubbed toe by amputating below the knee. And to spring it with almost no warning in late December, when both supporters and creators are likely to have tighter budgets ... that was just brain-dead.

2017-12-13 08:45:43 +0000 UTCI have set up through paypal and canceled my patreon thing. take care of yourself, we're with you!
2017-12-13 07:46:10 +0000 UTCI reduced my pledge here and added a pledge per your link so it mostly evens out with my previous pledge amount. Damn shame about this Patreon change.

2017-12-13 05:19:22 +0000 UTCCheck out Maker Support. It's a pro free speech no BS Patreon alternative. They vow to not interfere as long as no legal laws are being broken and most importantly no stupid fees. They seem open to all different kinds of creators.
2017-12-13 03:25:32 +0000 UTCNo, I tried to make one with variable amounts but it won't let you set them up to charge every month. If I'm the only person you pledge to you can just stay here. If not I totally understand if you prefer to drop me. You can use the paypal link in the previous posts to send money manually every month, but people always forget.
