STRAY KIDS - Episode 5

In the beginning of my journey watching these survival shows, I always used to think like "why can't they all just debut?" or "why did he need to be eliminated?". Now that I'm a few years in, I realize very well why they can't. In this case with Minho, they made a group of 9 trainees without real supervision, that is a very risky thing because Stray Kids needed to debut within a few weeks/months from this show. Minho was there for only 2 weeks before the demonstration of all of the performances and only had experience in dancing with his crew (WEDEMBOYZ pre-creation). IF JYP pushes through a trainee that isn't up to par with others skill levels then that would be visible for anyone. JYP at the time already was a very established name and they needed to follow up "GOT7" and "TWICE", that is not very easy considering their fame. So had Minho joined the company a month earlier, he might have been way better at rapping or singing. I've thought about what you can learn in 2 weeks skill-wise and to be honest, learning how to sing, rap, dance, draw, play an instrument or something that requires your body to remember a certain way of moving (either real movements or moving your vocal chords), that with hard work and dedication at least takes you a good month. So if i'm honest, Minho needed a miracle to be able to perform flawless on this stage. It was just unfortunate. Same with Felix not knowing how to speak Korean well enough, he knows some, but not enough. If you want to be able to debut in Korea, you kinda have (and in the past needed to be) be able to speak the language fluently. That's one of the reasons he wasn't confident enough. Besides that, he needed to sing, which he didn't do on a stage before. So I get JYP's feedback (and no matter what people say about the guy, I think he gives the best feedback and cares about his trainees/idols more than people give him credit for) because they weren't developed well enough at this time. It is sad to see them go, but you have to be realistic (and don't give them false hope either because they might end up not developing enough). That's why I think Stray Kids has this "Always give 100% energy", because the eliminated contestants here kept on practicing during the show and Hyunjin also improved his dancing skills during his hiatus from Kingdom. JYP really thaught them to always give it your best so you will be noticable. Wow this ended up being a very long comment 🤣🤣
