KINGDOM: Legendary War - Episode 7

KINGDOM: Legendary War - Episode 7

The team of iKON, The Boyz and SF9 actually changed their name after last episode. They went from The-I-9 (THE boyz, I kon, sf 9) to IT’S ONE (I kon, The boyz, Sf9 bonded as ONE) Why 33, easy, they needed a tipping point. Besides that they probably had some people on hold that wanted more screen time or recognition. The rookie boy groups (MIRAE and BDC) both disbanded this year and one of the girl groups (Tri.be) lost their producer to suicide (Shinsadong Tiger who was also there) That “actor” kid is Son Dongpyo, he was a member of X1 and is good friends with Woongki from Boys Planet. He was in X1 with Minhee and Hyeongjun of Cravity and Eunsang of Younite who you will see on RTK 2 Only the rap units make their own songs, they could cover a song and write lyrics to them but people would compare it to the original too fast. The song the IT’S ONE team performed was partially made by Raesung (Millenium) from the Stray Kids survival show. The song is actually called Full daSH, which actually means F*ck that Sh*t (he also says “Running away from your bullsh*t” but they needed to bleep that out, there is another performance where they did this were they were allowed to say that) The song us about someone flexing with way too many things and them telling the person to just take a seat and shut up. The chorus also says “Mind your own goddamn business”, which I think is something people should learn from. You just be you, i'll be me. and as they said, there is a lot of wordplay going on, like the “Idol” being transformed into “아이” and “돌” which reads the same, but the way Sunwoo tells the story is that as a kid (아이) he was hit by stones (돌) (this could also be related to trainee period in which you get criticized very often) because they want to become these idols. Same for Hwiyoung talking about people telling him to stop rapping, when the company is pushing him back (since this performance he got way more lines and screentime in their MV’s). It really is a masterpiece if you look into it. BOBBY also said he wanted to just have fun instead of winning (which I feel like should be the key point of this round in particular) Also, Sunwoo said that he had no one else that raps in his company (these days all of them rap a bit I feel like. But Eric and Juhaknyeon were the only ones who came somewhat close to Sunwoo, but there is still miles between them) So for him to be able to do this rap performance must have felt like he was releasing all of his emotions and hardships into the song. The Mayfly unit honestly has way more chemistry than the IT’S ONE unit. They seem to align more in ideas and have more extraverted people participating. Minhyuk is also a soloist under the name HUTA, you might remember from Boys Planet. He is literally the ACE of BTOB. He isn’t just good at everything, he is excelling in all of them. It is really weird seeing HAN and Changbin as the maknae line of the rap unit. In Stray Kids they are 3rd and 5th in terms of age. Also Chan getting shy around Minhyuk is pretty funny as well. I suspect Minhyuk of listening too much to God’s Menu, that idea of the long note after shooting rap is literally the chorus of that song. I just now (after watching this for probably 20+ times already) seen that this isn’t a painting class or a place where people can paint, but it is an art exhibition. That’s how they are aiming to say different colors should be mixed instead of belonging in one single spot (like you would normally do). Could also refer to life not being filled in the way it is supposed to be, but just the way you like it. Also the amount of painters they are name dropping (Dali, Da Vinchi, Virgil Elliot, Vincent van Gogh, Picasso) It is also pretty insane both teams without speaking with each other both came up with the same “color” concept. Like I said at the other rap units performance talk, they have this whole story they want to tell in their performance and I love that because we already have enough people talking BS in their songs (mostly western artists) Rap performances are definitely my favorite in shows like these because they make up a whole story with deep meanings and wordplay. Then for me it would be dance because of the storyline and conceptualization of choreo and lastly vocal performances because of harmonies, high notes and emotion. Someone I am curious about getting their chance to rap on their own right now is Wooyoung and Changbin’s other friend Yeonjun. He announced his “Cypher”, so i’m curious if he will be able to show everything he has got. (BTW the 99z exist of Changbin, Wooyoung, Yeonjun, Dino, Serim of Cravity, TAG of Golden Child and Juhaknyeon of The Boyz) I think the IT’S ONE dance team did a really good job, but it really wasn’t the attention grabber over “Wolf” of Mayfly. They chose a more conceptual, traditional route which I feel like that wasn’t really the way to go during Kingdom, for any other performance it would have been, but just not here. Too many at stake to not choose a powerful concept.

It’s so nice to see you were as touched by the dance performance of it’s one as I was :) I also cried a little because I really felt what they wanted to express! And I’m still impressed every time I see it again. Also I’m still waiting for the recording of full dash :D they actually performed the song again together at KCON 🎉
