Zuzu has been employed by the royal family of the Pridelands for most of her life. As a young hornbill she was tapped by the previous majordomo as a potential successor to the role based on a nigh-uncanny memory and a personality that lent itself to leadership. She commands the animals of King Ahadi's intelligence network, and all animals that do not deliver reports directly to the King go through her or one of her assistants.
Zuzu's second responsibility, though no less important than the first, is teaching. In Pride Rock she teaches the future leaders of Ndona and it's allies about the histories of the kingdoms, politics, and the different cultures of the animals that live within the kingdoms. While all cubs of the prides are required to attend lessons on hunting and fighting, only the cubs of the highest ranking members are permitted in her "lecture hall".
