I don't think it's trust. It seems more to be numbness. She doesn't have the emotional energy to care about anything anymore. She's empty inside. She lost everything, she might as well lose what she has left as well.

It’s more I’m worried about Dani’s mindset leaving her cubs with an unknown predator then worried about the hyena. They’re obviously a sweetie pie I guess I’m just surprised and concerned that Dani would be so trusting so quickly? Like even with the hyena leaving food and trying to help out, it’s just seems very unusual behavior from a new mother lioness, who are usually hyper protective of any other living animal that comes near their cubs. I know Dani is sentient and not ruled by her instincts, but it’s still a little concerning for me

The hyena doesn’t know there are live cubs in there. We only have real proof that the hyena noticed the dead ones by scent; they haven’t made any noise on the last two pages.

I understand why people might be worried about the hyena but since they left some food out for Dani and was wagging their tail with a big smile like a little puppy, I think they are just trying to be kind and Dani really needs that right now

Part of me thinks the hyena did this so the poor girl could get herself food and water. Which is nice. The other part of me thinks she did this just to get the mom away from a fresh meal.

Maybe the hyena is lonely? Lions and Hyenas are part of social groups. If they're all alone maybe they want to get on the only other predator's good side? At least that's what I'm hoping and it's not yet one more topping to Dani's crap cake that life has served her lol.

I wonder if the yeen is giving Dani the option to leave so she can take the dead cubs without Dani having to witness it? Or just trying to be a pal to an obviously traumatized single mother Thou even if she is being nice with good intentions I’d still be nervous about leaving my living cubs around an unknown predator, though obviously we see that Fina and Rina were not harmed by her
