I just noticed that Kaarina’s speech bubbles colors are a mix of Dani’s and Sachi’s speech colors (the previous comic where Dani is asking about his beliefs).

Right! Exactly but Sina and Fina didn’t know that. They didn’t know the whole story which is why they’re making assumptions on why Dani is not there and whatnot.

Dani is the one who scarred Uru, ripping out her throat very nearly, and blinding her one eye. I highly doubt Dani would be welcome in the Pridelands. If she revealed her daughters were hers that might put them at risk of being chased out

Yes Dani was there and I believe she was there to make sure her cubs are safe. But yea she left after knowing Sarafina and Kaarina are safe. So why would she leave instead of being with them? I think she’s doing it to protect them and making sure the empire aren’t after them and leading them away from the Pridelands. That’s my theory. I also wonder exactly WHAT did the guards find when the leader of the lion guard died…

I may be misremembering but I THOUGHT Dani was watching Uru and the others take Kaarina to the baboon to be healed, and when Uru looked up she had disappeared. So I wonder just WHAT the guards found…

Exactly what I was thinking. To me, it looks like Fina’s stuck in the past and believing that she’s still alive, refusing to accept Dani’s death (if she is dead). And it’s possible that Sina either believes that Dani is dead and she is not THERE but others are there. Or she may be a bit angry for if Dani is alive then why didn’t she come back and be THERE? Also I wonder if Takasa never told her what the guards found and Dani’s body wasn’t there at the crime of the scene? Obviously, when Takasa told her that it may be possible Dani is alive so she believed it. If he didn’t tell her, would Fina accept that her mother may be dead and she wouldn’t be like this? 🤷🏼‍♀️

I kinda get Sarafina’s point but I didn’t see any of the other “nobles” family there unless they were in the trials themselves. Tish wasn’t there for Zira either.

I'm not going to say anything because these are really good points, but Dani's "I choose me" line was in her mind, not said aloud. Kaarina did see her mother save them... But it's been years and she's drawn her own conclusions.

I'm a bit confused on Kaarina's POV here...she's about the same age as Sarafina...Wouldn't she remember Dani's apparent sacrifice? Or is she deciding to believe the narrative that Dani abandoned them? Because the line "if I have to choose between you and I....I....CHOOSE...MEEE!" is kind of hard to ignore in this situation. I can understand Fina being absolutely livid at anyone, even her own sister backtalking their mother. If it weren't for Dani, they'd all have been killed by jackals. Not to mention, Fina has a bit of a point in the fact that no one showed up for the Lion Guard tryouts. But then again, the royals didn't show up as far as we could tell-I didn't see Tish or Hami's parents. And Sandstone's own parents weren't there either. I wonder if that's part of the rules? But aside from that, Fina has another point made-the fact that even if they are considered "family" by Onyesha and the twins and Sarabi, that won't change the fact that everyone ELSE will see these two rogue cubs as stains. As nuisances. It honestly makes me wonder what would happen if the Pridelands ever found out that Rina and Fina were Damu cubs. Though they aren't FULL Damu but Tsavo+Damu, they are DANI'S cubs. Dani who nearly slew Uru and ripped her ability to speak away. Dani who spent her entire life being a warmonger queen. Would the girls be outright chased off? I wonder.
