(early access) Paldogangsan Explained by a Korean

It took me 24hrs to do this. I'm going to cry if it doesnt meet my expectations.

Oh, and i noticed a few points to re-edit in the vid, if there is something you notice plz lemme know. The vid is quite long so i might have missed more.

Anyways, I wish you get a better idea on Satoori and this song.

(early access) Paldogangsan Explained by a Korean

Finally got around to watching this! Thanks for posting - really helped me better understand the dialects and their origins. Really interesting to hear about all the hidden meanings and history in the lyrics as well! I thought the 22 , 2e, etc (intonation) thing was interesting because it made me think about how that's something hard to grasp in Chinese as well - being able to differentiate between different tones. Great video! Keep up the good work

I loved this so much! I always wanted to better understand the references in this song. These dialects and their origins are really interesting. Thank you for all your hard work!!

this is really amazing! this is definitely my favorite explained so far, it's so useful and interesting. the only audio issue i noticed was at 8:20, when it's very noticeable that there were two audio clips being cut together to talk about the Asian Financial Crisis.

Once I looked for the translation of this song and there was a note that said: " There are many hidden meanings and connotations that just can’t be translated simply into English" Thank you sooooo much for this amazing explanation video.

Ashley

Really liked this. Now the song makes sense.

Haha yeah right. Dialects may be simple as it seems but inside theres a lot of history i guess

I hope my extra explanation helped u in understanding more about the song and our culture! :)

DKDKTV

Thanks Amy! Fixed the sound! And danny told me not to blur ㅠㅠ

DKDKTV

Thanks a lot! It actually took me so long so your words mean everything haha.

DKDKTV

hands down the best explained video yet! hats off to you guys!

Oh I also forgot, “Seoul state of mind” is a play on Nas( a prevalent American rapper responsible for inspiring a young Namjoon, he’s mentioned Nas many times before and even gave homage to Nas in some of his/BTS’s songs) “NY state of mind”. I don’t know if this matters since it’s not really korean related or if you already know but yeah

kitsunekimi

Very very interesting and educational. Thank you :) y'all work very hard on these videos and its greatly appreciated 💜💜💜

Esther Morales

I mean Woah! I never realised there was so much info in the song. I always assumed it was just a battle between the accents.

Eve M Kng

Your best work, guys!

Eve M Kng

Thank you so much for making this explanation and putting so much work into it. :) This has always been one of my favorite BTS songs, but with my limited knowledge of korean language and history I could always only understand the main idea of the song.

Erwin, I was thinking the same thing with English (like, in England) regional dialects and stereotypes. And we have that thing in Canada where politicians like to pit different regions against each other: East versus West versus Atlantic provinces. And then there's Quebec. 🙄

Amy Brown

OMG, this is so good. You're doing the Lord's work here, my friend. The sound balance was off a little at the beginning -- the rap was too loud and your part was too quiet. I think it got better later but I might just have stopped noticing. I didn't notice any other glitches, except you have one part with shirtless Danny that I think you should blur out or something. 😂

Amy Brown

love it!

Cintamani Crawford

Interesting. I was immediately thinking of Dutch equivalents to your examples and I found a lot. Even in our small country we have likewise variations.

Erwin Blonk

This is amazing! I love how in depth it is and how you were able to incorporated a lot of lessons on korean culture and history in the video. It is very informative, entertaining, and well made. Good job David! 💜
