This lowkey scares me because I’m going to China soon to study abroad and I feel like all the fine dust, which is probably a lot worse than it is in South Korea, will cause me to someday develop cancer💀💀💀

lemme figure it out

DKDKTV

okay lemme figure out how to do that :)

wow , special forces having access to any device does sound pretty scary. I think it's only recently Koreans are becoming aware of their privacy and what government censorship really means. A few years back, the government tried enforcing similar censorship measures, and the people's response was 'if you aren't a criminal, why are you worried?' - so I'm relieved that people are at least waking up to these possibilities of the government becoming big brother and what not

I've been keeping up with my OCD for the past week, I think i'm growing paranoid at this point haha.

Sorry for replying late, despite you commenting so quickly haha. After about 10 days since moving here I have to say it does get lonely at times, especially since I work alone most of the time. I think turning on podcasts in the room as background noise helps though, it kinda feels like I'm around people. Okay I feel really lonely after writing that now lol

I'd also like to see an rss feed for the podcast. Thanks!

Hi Danny could you put the podcast on a rss feed? Patreon lets you add private rss feed.

Asian Boss posted about the micro dust months ago, some expert said it was mostly from diesel vehicle emissions. In some parts of the world, diesel cars aren't that popular, maybe that's why we don't have major problems with micro dust. Arirang news also talked about coal being a huge problem for air pollution, especially coming from maritime cargo ships. As for online bans, yeah I imagine that's not the best solution. It's like having a pressure cooker and you just squeeze that lid on more instead of releasing the pressure. It's just not solving the problem. Although it's highly controversial, I think looking at figures of countries like the Netherlands where (if I'm not mistaken) prostitution is legal, and comparing it to reported related crime there, it would give a better idea. I don't know if legalizing it would make interest for online stuff go away. It's open for debate. Stay healthy and thanks for the episode + appropriate ending theme song. xD

Sunlight is indeed very important, as long as you remember to wear sunscreen since the glass does not stop all kinds of UV rays. As for the cleaning situation… I am as grossed out as you (I worked part time in the cleaning industry my first year of uni but I still can’t help but wonder how she got cat hair in the fridge of all places??). I find it really weird that the person moving out does not have to clean at all because if it’s not clean how can the landlord properly determine if there’s something wrong with the apartment ecc? I don’t know if you pay for scratches (like on the floor and walls) as we do here, so maybe that’s why. It has never taken me this long to move, even when I moved for uni (370km away), but I suppose it’s understandable considering you had to spend a lot of time cleaning and getting all the new furniture (personally I just moved my whole room). The intent of the government is good but I really don’t see how that’s going to solve the issue at all. I assume revenge porn is illegal so are there special measures in place to find the uploaders? How often are people punished for it? I can’t help but feel that a measure like this is being done 1. To have something to show when people say that the government does not care and 2. To just try to control the private sexual life of the citizens whilst pretending to help. I would think there are other website one would rather target, like underground ones specifically made for this, rather than the giant Pornhub. In any case, I don’t agree with the censorship, but the reaction does not surprise me that much. A few years ago, a law was passed here which granted special forces access to any device and a user’s data ecc. in case of a perceived national threat and my classmates at the time were mostly in favour of that law. They argued that the increased security is worth the privacy sacrifice. Whereas personally I think that granting the state such powers is a slippery slope. A lot of countries censor the internet though, not only China and Turkey, but also places like Russia/France and UK (they actually have pretty heavy censorship too afaik).

I am glad you are settling into your new place! Its always nice returning to a clean and tidy home. Hope you can keep up the tidiness!

I think this is my first time getting to your podcast so soon! I want to visit Korea in the future and I keep hearing about the poor air quality (mostly from you but from others as well). I just took note of your advice for buying a mask tho so that might be the first thing I get once I’m off the plane lol. I don’t agree with that level of censorship buuut I cant stop thinking about those victims of revenge porn being protected. But I also feel that blocking porn sites is a bandage over the problem instead of a permanent solution. Like you said, people can still use VPNs to get through. Maybe there needs to be a more severe punishment. No, it’s not normal to take 10 days to move lol. My family has moved quite a few times and we only take 1 or 2 days. In the states, the person moving out has to clean or else the cost of cleaning can be taken from their security deposit. I watched your livestream video today (wish I caught the actual livestream) of putting your furniture together and it was hilarious. I wanted to help you so badly. I think the DucKs were telling you to do your bed first just in case you got tired and couldn’t complete everything. Then at least you have your bed finished. I’m sure they didn’t know you’d be so bad and take 4 hours to build it lmao. Also, the bed went in the corner so once it was completed, it’d be out of the way of the other stuff you needed to build. I’m glad you’re settling into your home well. I’m moving out on my own in April and I’m actually scared but also excited. We’re similar. I prefer being alone too so that’s what I’m excited about (I consider myself an extreme introvert) but, on the flip side, living on my own for the first time is what’s scary. Right now, when I feel lonely (rarely) I can walk over to my mom or siblings rooms. Once I move, I’m just alone in those moments. But I’m very excited to be on my own for the most part and I’ll be looking forward to your tips on living alone. And I love Amazon so Coupang sounds like a dream. I don’t know if you’ll get to see my comment I left earlier on your livestream video but I wanted to let you know you missed acknowledging a super chat. I guess it went too far up by the time you got back to your phone but you read all of the others except for theirs.
