(early) WHY I INVEST IN JYP - importance of '인성'

Hi, many of you folks wanted me to make a vid on how to invest in kpop.

well actually from my knowledge its very hard to invest in the Korean stock market unless you have a lot of money~

So rather than that, i just decided to make a video on How and Why i invest in JYP. Alongside with the aspects I think are worthy to be addressed about JYP (especially in these days...)

Anyways, this is not financial advice, not that anyone would take it, but still..

Hope you enjoy the vid!

Oh, and if you can recommend a better eye-grabbing title. THat would be great!

ex) How to get rich with KPOP. (BIG 3 Investing)

ex) Getting RICH by Investing in KPOP - Why it's JYP (not YG...)

(early) WHY I INVEST IN JYP - importance of '인성'

Comments

LOL I totally misunderstood your initial comment. Sounds like you were taught very wise universal lessons.

Jade F.

Actually, no. I am pretty much as southern American as you can get. We were just taught to respect our elders, to act appropriately in public, surround yourself with good people, and be humble and thankful for all you are blessed with.

Hey Dusti, I watched the video of Jackson Wang reuniting with his mum too - it's pretty emotional! You mentioned your grandmother taught you that Korean concept of "the traits of a good person". Are you part Korean Dusti?

Jade F.

I actually have a similar thought on the JYPE. When you see his artists talk about him, they talk about him with respect not fear. They listen to what he has to say, and the take it to heart. Though, I will admit, him bringing Jackson Wang's mother to see him from China, after he realized how much Jackson missed her is what truly made me see JYP in a different light than the other 2. As far as the benefit being provided to his idols, they are. Many of them will do live streams while in the cafeteria, or around the new buildings. You can tell that the Idols enjoy being there and working there. (I am not saying all, but overall they seem to respect him, even after leaving the company). I think the best way to translate into English is exactly what you said "The traits of a good person". These are the same lessons I was taught growing up, and my grandmother always called it her rules to living right.

I truly hope all of those benefits are provided to the JYP idols – counselling, work/life balance and nutritious food. I can’t help for a little bit of cynicism creep through…but I know DKDKTV would only provide information from trustworthy sources so I will put my cynicism to the side 😊 On a side note, how come Mr. JYP has such fluent English? Did he spend time in the states? Or is he crazy smart like RM? I’m typing up this comment as I am watching this video… and now I see he can speak Japanese too – wow – I am impressed. If I remember correctly, a few years ago JYP the company was having severe profitability issues. Maybe the share price was low then and that was when you bought in, David? It looks like the investment in Twice and GOT7 has worked out. Thanks for introducing the concept of '인성' – appreciate the explanation of these Korean cultural concepts.

I am so glad you have made a video about investing and I hope it inspires Ducks and others to think about planning their way to become truly financially independent. For me, I am going to stick with a combination of indexed funds (funds indexed to major stock exchange) and cash. I think Warren Buffett has instructed for 90% of his estate to be invested in indexed funds upon his death. Research has shown that indexed funds consistently outperform managed funds (i.e. finance 101: diversification, diversification, diversification; and a general belief the economy related to the relevant stock exchange will grow in the long term). Disclaimer – this is not financial advice and I am also not a qualified financial advisor. I got a lot helpful information from a book called “The Barefoot Investor”. This book is written for an Australian audience and therefore refers often to Australian regulations, but nonetheless contains some useful universal information.
