Maybe you should stop vaping Danny....Americans want Australia to know about the vaping epidemic sweeping the nation http://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-09-22/how-one-teen-survived-vaping-related-illness/11535282

Online where my husband buys his juice, he can get 0 mg nicotine. Idk why Juul doesnt.

They do produce smell. If a kid was vaping in their room and their mom came in 5 mins later, she would be able to smell it easily and probably see it. My husband "hotboxes" our small apartment all the time where it looks like theres a fire, its sooo "smokey"-looking. The sweet smell drives me crazy it's so strong! And I can smell it on him. There is definitely a smell is all I'm saying. At least with the flavors I've smelled like fruity, maple syrup, etc. Yeah he doesnt use a Juul which may be more discreet as you say, I bet if they smoke it enough, it still would produce a smell and haze in the room.

Ok now I'm listening to the podcast and you're addressing most of what I ranted about. Lol. Well at least we're on the same page!

The Juuls and "gas station"-available vape stuff are the worst offenders! They have soooo much nicotine in them and it's just crazy! My husband vapes (much to my dismay) and he has a good quality vape from online and buys his juice online from a site that discloses all the chemicals they're made with. He gets the lowest mg of nicotine and likes his fruity flavors. Here in our state of Michigan we became the 1st state that made it illegal to sell or buy fruity or any flavored liquid(besides tobacco flavor) in stores or online. There were those cases where people were dying and/or ending up hospitalized and my husband and his cousin thought it was related to not normal vape juice, but black market THC juice cartridges. Sure enough, NOW they're saying it looks like it could be connected to the THC juice. But in all the concern and hysteria over it, they took the opportunity to ban flavors in the guise that its luring to children. But the funny thing is, gas stations and places still have shelves FULL of cigarettes with crazy fun flavors and Swisher sweets with yummy fruit flavors. Where was/is the concern there? It smells like some cigarette company money under the tables to politicians to me. And not to mention all the KIDS cereal flavored alcohols, amongst other fun yummy flavors, on the market is more than a little disturbing if you want to say flavors means its marketed to kids. And a good point my husband brought up that I hadn't thought of and made a lot of sense: vaping is treated right now like cigarettes in most places/cases. They aren't supposed to be used indoors in public places like restaurants according to law and places that post no smoking/vaping and such. Cigarettes are proven to be harmful to not just the person smoking the cigarette. Although vaping and its effects and research done is very premature and limited, there hasn't been any evidence of 2nd hand vapor issues. Buying vape stuff is treated like cigarettes: must be 18+ to purchase. But now we're getting into a slippery spot with the government regulating what you put into yourself. It is not harming anyone but the person inhaling the vape sticks. It could almost be looked at as the government controlling your body, an issue that's controversial in the aspect of abortion etc. With banning, they're just forcing more into the black market which equals no regulation and less safety, i.e. juice made with bad chemicals causing the "popcorn lung" disease or as I already mentioned, the black-market THC vape cartridges causing deaths and injuries. Or this could also be applied to "illegal drugs"...making them illegal causes less regulation and black market and less safe situations for people. I personally believe the government shouldn't have control over what you decide to do with yourself and them drawing lines: pot is bad, alcohol is ok, etc shouldn't be allowed. Talk about America and its freedoms. Anyways, rant over!

Vaping could land Indians in jail for three years http://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-09-18/india-to-ban-e-cigarettes/11526220

With Juul, I don't believe there is a nicotine free version, (you can get some pods that are, but not easily) with vaping there is. So many use vaping as a way to slowly stop the nicotine addiction, some do it quickly. My mom started vaping about 7 or 8 years ago, after about 4 years got to 0 nicotine in her vape. She still does the vaping because of the comfort of the actions, but overall her lungs are better. I started it about 5 years ago, started at a level of 24g nicotine, and now down to 6. It is slow progress, but it is progress. Some of the most harmful parts of smoking, are the fact you are breathing in BURNING tobacco that has things like tar in it. Vaping cuts out that part. While I think every adult can do whatever they choose, I think Joshua is right. In the US you must be 18 to purchase them. So either someone is selling them to kids, or they are bootleg, or adults are getting them for kids. Adults are held responsible for buying cigarettes and alcohol for kids why not these? Again, these can be good for people trying to quit, but may not be a great thing for those who never have.

Another vaping death today in the US

To me, I've always felt that JUUL is just another alternative to smoking cigarettes and it's still the same! It's more potent than regular cigs and it's still nicotine. Still going to cause harm to your health no matter how you put it, and it's also unfortunate it encourages young teens and even middle school-aged children to get into it because of the 'candy'-like flavors. No matter how you look at it, JUUL is still bad for your health.

The whole juul/vaping story is bs. There is very little information that has come out other than it's related to vitamin e as a filler. The news just keeps it vague when it mentions juul or bootleg juul pods and would be surprised since it's too early to even know. This somehow has turned into banning juul because they are popular and most people are ignorant to vaping. The argument that juuls should be banned because teens use it is odd since it's not for children. Are they getting them from an adult? Who is buying it for them then? That's what should be the focus. I could see the argument for penalizing underage selling or parental negligence. Teens still underage drink and use drugs and those products are not for them either. Kids like "cool" thing and they love to rebel. Since this is the new fad everyone has gone into a panic. This is some Helen Lovejoy shit. I'm pro vape and I don't use it. It a good alternative to smoking and helpful to those who want to quit. That I cannot stress enough. I know a couple of people who have quit because vaping works better than a patch or gum. I don't get why people are so eager to control adults life's and what they do. Why do non smoker love to tell smoker what to do. Smoker know it's bad and they still do it. They have been wanting to ban smoking and nicotine products for a long time and now the found there excuse. Fucking nanny state, let adults do what they want and quit using kids as a excuse.

Toastmasters is a fun and cheap way of improving your public speaking skills. I found it helpful.

Yeah that's the biggest issue, Juuls made nicotine cool again. It's also just so easy to take a hit discretely that encourages kids to take a Juul session between every classes. Makes them even more dependent on it.

DKDKTV

Wow that is a very good point - how it's the people that first follow that start a movement. Perhaps thats where great minds get lost. They bring amazing ideas but are too difficult for people to follow so they never materialize

DKDKTV

DKDKTV, now selling Juuls to kids lol. Yeah I should quit, it's actually maybe worse than smoking for me at least since it's way less of a hassle and I can just smoke indoors.

DKDKTV

Juul largely bothers me because of how close we in the US were from kicking nicotine addictions for good until juul came around. Smoking was really not popular for youth except among artsy-hipster types at least when I was in high school. Now juul exists and is extremely popular among kids and also has way more nicotine than cigarettes do. It's crazy how much has changed in the 4 years since I graduated high school, honestly.

Sara Rosenau

The Juul bothers me because it's "safer". It's just as addictive, but because it's so safe people may be encouraged to do more. A kid can smoke the equivalent of 3 packs a day with no signs to parents or teachers. Im a school counselor and just got my first case of "addicts". Not sure how to handle it. I watched the art film. I loved the sense of community the fruitless task created. I'm an older KPop fan who has found a small community of other older KPop fans. Having a place to meet like minded people is very powerful. Individuals change the world be changing the people around them. Sitting alone quietly does nothing. Organically people people may come and help. That's when you begin to see change. It reminded me of an idea that it's not the leader that creates a movement, but the first one willing to follow. It's only then that others join. It takes guts to follow a leader with no one to lead. The artist needed followers and the pride of the early takers was evident. The sense of community is stronger and the art peice had a hand a doing that. Bravo to him!

Danny you're killing me. Maybe you should sponsor Juul cuz you are making it sound super cool to do it. hahaha. I don't smoke and I don't think you should do either. At least smoking has over 50 years of research to tell you how bad it is. How could this device not be bad for you? There is no research on this. The new smokers are the guinea pigs for this. It would be interesting if you did more stories on avant garde artist's that try to make a comment with their art. Even if you don't like it or understand it, it opens your mind to different ways of thought. i will have to check this film out. thanks. But please stop the vaping. you are too cute to die from some unknown medical disorder.

Cathy

It is readily available in the US and there is a move on now to ban them.
