Early Access "Kim Ji-Young: Born in 1982" Movie Review

i sincerely appreciate this discussion because it gives a more complete picture of how korean society operates. Of course in this case the new dimensions are largely negative to me (as i am a young female), and i am aware what has been shared here cannot be generalised to the whole k society. Sarah, I hope your grandpa and your family eventually appreciate you not based on gender or age, but because of your hardworking and earnest character and all that you have done for them (i do not know you but thats what I deduced from your anecdote). I felt sooo frustrated when i heard your situation and i hope this encouragement doesnt cross any boundaries.

This discussion was so good. I loved all your thoughts on the movie. I of course relate to Sarah more. Now I have to watch the movie

i really wasn't interested in seeing this movie until i watched your review. i have a feeling that i will agree with Danny in how Kim Ji-Young will be overly victimized. at least this is opening up the discussion of equality and how women are still treated as less than in many situations. in my family, the woman cook and clean for the holidays and we live in the US. this is very common. i think it is more of a familial scenario rather than a societal dictate. i found it interesting that Sarah noticed the cups but Danny didn't. this is the type of thing that happens all the time. because it is not happening to them, men do not notice certain digs. very interesting discussion. can't wait to see who i agree with.

Ok gonna watch the movie and I will take line 1 next time 🙌🏻😌 and the things you mentioned sarah it’s the same as in my culture. Although my parents are not like that (thank god), but my grandparents have exactly the same way of thinking. Men are still treated more valuable than women.😒😒

I love the banter and interactions of you guys! It was fantastic to see Sarah being comfortable to express her differing views and to see David and Danny being enlightened by the Korean female perspective. Very entertaining and thoughtful!
