You are good at talking and people want to listen! Very interesting!

Alesia Montes

So glad that you embrace your job! You can't allow comments or drama to affect you!! I also keep going through levels and I finally feel free of it. Not everyone will like me, and it's all good!

Alesia Montes

Damn, you get shredded over saying something that was probably not meant to hurt anyone. It just slipped! I don't think welders find offense because it is hard and it pays good!

Alesia Montes

I understand what the teacher said, and it was just a mistake saying welding. She should not have brought up a profession, especially because welding is a skill. Ask Samsung

Another great podcast thank you Danny😊. As a person who's done both blue and white collar jobs. I would say that it would more depend on how much the job type were earning as to how general society views it. For example, the "trades" jobs (eg. plumber) are seen as earning above average income with good longterm career prospects. Besides most of them are self employed in my city. Mind you, this may be a generational thing. Of course, the bias still exists but I think it'd be more on an individual level currently. I think NZ work culture is a little similar to Denmark where equality is valued and practiced. The general motto is just try not to be a dick😂 About that Youtuber...meh. Just another egit( = idiot) on the internet if you ask me. About the last bit. Danny, you don't have sisters and it shows. But that is a great idea, talking to 3 women daily to practice social small talk and network. It really is surprising and cool how much you can learn from random conversations with strangers. Good luck, and wishing you (& David and Sarah) all the best (almost) always💜 *war flashbacks from when I disagree with you* 🤭

In Denmark, the country I live in, I think we value equality a lot. We're on a first name basis with everyone, our teachers or bosses and everyone is equal in a workplace. Of course there'll always be some people who look down on people with lower education or not as high prestigious jobs, but it's not the main population who thinks like that. In Denmark we're taught from a young age never to look down on people and NEVER to brag or act like we're better than others. In Denmark going to "High School" is optional. I never went but started my apprenticeship as an electrician when I was 15. I've never been looked down on because I chose this job and I haven't regretted it. I'm sad to hear people with blue collar jobs are looked down on in South Korea. I hope one day it'll get better. No matter what your job is, you're valuable and a part of society.

I remember in high school, there was sooo much emphasis and push to do business and marketing clubs and take the classes. So much emphasis put on going on to college. Almost no recognition for the skill trades and we have one of the top community colleges here right in town for mechanics, culinary arts, nursing, etc. It was so weird to me! It was ALL about office/business jobs. Even though some trade jobs make like 6 digits...

Blue collar isn't a term I ever encounter... but I think the bias or disrespect is pointed towards unskilled, particularly DIRTY labor that often has low pay. Metal workers, glass workers, people that work on artistic projects (e.g. technicians that create dancing water fountains or light displays), I think these people are generally respected, maybe because the work sounds cool? But also these jobs pay well. Plumbers, farm workers, janitors, trash collectors, I guess it's mostly people who work with things that stink... I think these jobs are generally considered low class (and low pay).

My job involves managing Blue Collar workers and I will admit that bias does remain against them. A lot of it being vestiges from the institutionalized caste hierarchy system we had which placed manual work at the lower ranks of the system. However, saying so Blue Collared workforce is the most legally protected workforce in the country.

Wow a stage technician. I actually worked for a few days setting up a huge ass stage once, and that shit was just too physically taxing for me lol. Much respect to you :)

DKDKTV

old me was foolish

DKDKTV

was he me?

DKDKTV

I work blue-collar, and its respected where I am from, ofc in media its not, but never met a person who scoffed (ignoring the people who educate themselves to be unemployed, thats just dumb, i can do that without spending time learning it), Only problem is I work Stages, and nobody really knows what a stage technician does :p anyways I worked with crews from all over the world, and the talent and effort we all put in to just doing our jobs in the dark, makes me proud, you will never know us until it goes wrong, and honestly ive never met an artist that didnt respect the fact :) I respect people that can sit in theory all day (have an economics degree, but dang i find it boring), couldnt be me, but we are all needed to make society work on a higher level
