Hi Danny - it was nice to hear new music that I don’t hear on music shows. I do agree with Emma about the attraction of informative content rather than passive content. I love your podcasts. But this was a nice “something new.” Will miss your podcasts if you cut them though. I’ve actually bought two books because of your interviews and learned a ton! I listened to this while out on a long walk. It that way it was nice to not “need” a screen and have music I could move to. But, I found myself wanting to hear more commentary from you - but maybe because that’s what I’m used to. So instead, what I eventually realized was that your short intros “this song is about _____” WAS you interacting with the content, the lyrics that then followed. However, I couldn’t keep up with you (sharing the experience) because I don’t understand enough Korean. This made me want to follow along with the lyrics. I’m wondering if you could add the lyrics to the piece - ? Seems like cutting and pasting would not be too time consuming, although you’d have to time it to the music. Then is is a hybrid of music and visual? If I could follow what you meant about the “meaning” of the song, even if I went back later or skipped around the podcast, I think it would increase the draw and meaningfulness. Does that make sense? Keep up the good work!

This is what I’ve been looking for! It’s tiresome getting the same recommended K-POP songs from other platforms. I enjoyed this very much. I’m looking forward for the next one! Thank you Danny!

I like really like the radio thingy. The few last songs were really nice and reminded me a little bit of Hyukoh(혁오). Looking forward to what kind of recommendations you have for us in the future. And sorry for my english.. i slept through the grammar lessons in school :D.

This radio thing was nice but I prefer the podcast because I got to hear first hand about current events in Korea or hear your perspectives on social issues. If you're tired of the podcast, maybe alternate these formats to keep you enjoying your job.

Cate Smith

I love this format. I'm okay with either once a week or every two weeks. Maybe you could do a theme every time around a certain artist, genre, or timeperiod? I also agree with Annalise that it would be nice to have a list of the songs.

Collett Litchard

I agree and second everything Steven Pambello said! I prefer the podcasts and hope they stay around!

WOW the last two songs really brought me back to 2010s indie rock bands (that's how i classify such sounds in my head, dont come for me), which I love. I've been going really deep into the kpop hole recently and the two bands you have introduced to me (se so neon and guckkasten) brings me back to a different kind of joy that i get from music. Tbh, those two songs saved this series for me... I agree with the other comments. It seems like your audience really appreciates the informative dimension of your podcast material, which gave us non-Koreans some insight into a different culture, societal issues and perspectives that are all uniquely Korean. How I understand it is that DKDKTV discusses such issues through kpop/k music industry issues as vessels. The new format does draw closer to the music industry aspect in that it uses music as a medium, but it does not deliver anything much beyond music; it loses the information/insight/new ways of seeing your material gives us. Both formats have their merits, but one cannot replace the other without losing something. The two suggestions I have are 1. Alternate between the previous podcast format and the new radio format every week 2. Adjust the new radio format to include a "news segment", as suggested above, or perhaps choose some songs which can lead to further discussion/anecdotes/musings/naver comments. Definitely I see the potential for it though, especially if you have a passion for it. I hope you will improve it to find a great sweet spot that will become a classic DKDKTV series.

Emma

Oh I have a request! Could you please write down a list of the songs on your radio show? If it's not too much trouble, I really like a lot of the songs but my memory suck and it's tough for me to write down the names during work. Only if it's not too much work for you~

Annalise

I enjoyed it a lot, I really liked all the music and it was something easy to listen to while I was doing my work. Thank you. I do agree that it would be nice if you talked a little more, maybe at the end of the show? Just giving us an update on you or maybe 1 subject that was on your mind lately. Other than that, I'm all for this new format! I'm looking forward to the next one ^^

The short version is: Stick with the podcasts. But here is why. The radio thingy, or what ever you are going to call it, found myself not paying very much attention until you came on in between songs. It quickly became something that was just playing in the background just like radio in my country. So this is a foreigner's point of view. A Korean will probably think differently. On the other hand, the podcasts were throughly engaging from beginning to end and i found myself learning a lot and enjoying the interaction. It's very obvious that the podcast is WAY more work for you than the radio show which may be one reason why you like it more. But from a foreign listener's prospective, the podcast was far more interesting and engaging than the radio broadcast and as such i found myself surprised when it was over even though you had been on for over and hour. It seemed to go quickly and was most enjoyable. So if the majority of your listeners agree with me then you should probably stick with the podcasts. If they don't then you should go with the radio show. If the vote is close then maybe you could alternate between radio and podcasts. For myself, I tuned in to see how it was and i will continue to tune into the podcasts but very likely, not tune into the radio broadcast. This is no reflection on you because i loved all the content that both of you put out and more importantly the "style" that you use to put it out there. It's that style that initially attracted me to DKDKTV a few years ago and it is that style that prompted me to support you at the level that i do. I understand its a lot more work but this is the line of work you have chosen, at least for now, so you will have to decide what ur able to do. Having said all that, I didn't "dislike" the show, it just didn't turn out to my cup of hot ass tea. QUACK QUACK ! By the way, the merch is fabulous and i can hardly wait for the summer line of T shirts. Thanks for all you do. Your Jersey friend Steve_Ho.

I really like this, radio show. I'm a new patron, so I haven't had a chance to listen to the podcast to compare. Something that would help me is either a list of artist in the description or you saying who each artist is multiple times. I found myself having to rewind a lot to try to here who it was after I decided I liked the song. Overall though I liked the show and it exposed me to more Korean music outside of big Kpop.

CNN346

Woah, those W1 boys surprised me on your playlist at the beginning but gotta give it to Ong Seung Woo, Gravity is great, and the mv is pleasant to watch too. To be honest, I enjoyed the second half more, from Han Yo Han to Guckkasten - that music is more like my cup of tea. I hoped that there would be more podcast-y thingy like some talking between songs not only talking with music in the background about the track that's currently playing and maybe some related anecdotes. But it reminds me of one your died projects, kpop deep cuts, so that cool. I'm voting for the weekly one-hour radio thingy, but please, if you could, talk a little more... about anything, bring some news or some story. I like your musical taste too, but I need something to remind me of your podcasts. A news corner in your radio show? Story-time at the end of the episodes? Something...? Anyways, thank you for this episode, enjoyed it! Have a nice week! :)
