Yes! Compared to NYC and L.A. and SF, you really found a great deal! Furnished apartments are becoming rare in L.A.,NYC, and SF.Forget about a newer building. In SF, many apartments are in buildings more than 100 years old,and the apartments are the result of chopping up..oh,dividing a family space into tiny rooms. I hope you enjoy your place...the furnishings are nice and NOT old.Having an apartment that you do not have to share is very very nice. You have a washing machine!!!Wow...you have no idea how great that is! Thank you for the tour.It was so fun for me to watch. My first solo apartment was in Berkeley,California. The cost would make you cry..so I won't mention that....but I found a union job,so I was able to afford a furnished studio apartment by myself ,with all utilities included, while I finished college and for several years after college.

wow david's dream of living in LA just crushed with this comment lol. I think Seoul is compartively cheap to live considering its infrastructure and economy, at least compared to LA and NYC.

Yes, the difference is night and day. Even just going to less expensive neighborhoods in Seoul makes a huge difference. If I were living where my parents are (very border of Seoul, but still Seoul) this room would've probably costed half the price.

The same applies to Korea, it's in case there are damages or if the rent is not paid on time. The landlord will take money from the security deposits. America seems to have a very low deposit compared to Korea where even 18,000 isn't considered that high of a deposit here. It's probably just about average.

$1200 for your own place + utilities & furniture included is not bad at all! i live in los angeles county and pay nearly $900 for my own room in an apartment. my apartment is about $3000 rent a month and it is me and 4 roommates. gas, electric, wifi, and furniture are not included. we also don't have a washer & dryer in the unit. our unit is also nothing super new or fancy, pretty standard. when moving in, we had to pay a deposit + first & last months rent. this price, set up, and number of roommates is pretty standard. thanks for sharing & enjoy the new place :)

Cute place! I've seen much smaller in Seoul for more money so seems like a good deal. Books so people think you read, thanks for the decorating tips! 'okay google' triggered my google.

The "that's what she said" really killed me. I'm curious if when you're out of the cities if the rent is the same or does it decrease dramatically?

That was interesting but what does it cost per month ? And what is the $18,000 for ? In the US u pay one month security deposit in advance and ur entitled to the security deposit back when u leave providing there is no damage. So if ur paying $1000 per month then it cost u $2000 to move in a $1000 per month there after. I have a 2 bedroom, 5 room appt. Which is actually the whole 3rd floor of a 3 family house, no utilities except for hot water and sewerage and a garage for my hummer. Costs me $1520 per month and I have to pay for gas, electric, cable, internet each month. So if u add all the utilities in then it costs about $2100 per month. So I was wondering what the $18,000 was for ?
